As the two settled in to what would be their home for the next two years, Cai Fei felt the place was a bit dreary.

She headed out into the town and purchased a variety of items with a total cost of around two gold coins. In the past, she would hold onto such a sum with her life, but now she carried such an extraordinary wealth that she wouldn't even notice the coins missing.

Cai Fei couldn't help taking out a spirit stone and staring at it. The small rock would sell for more gold than she had been bought for. She now had a thousand such rocks. A strange feeling washed over her.

She sighed and put the spirit stone back in her pouch.

After returning to their building, Cai Fei started to decorate. She spread a few rugs on the floors, hung up painted scrolls, placed decorative vases in each room, and arranged various other baubles throughout.

Cai Fei nodded to herself, content with her work. The place had become much more pleasing to the eye. If Shao Yue asked about it, Cai Fei would say that the more comforting atmosphere helped to calm her mind, which in turn would help with her cultivation.

With some time still remaining before dinner, Cai Fei headed to the trade hall and looked around.

Many magical treasures were on display with stunning prices. She talked about some of them with the people in the hall and broadened her horizons. She would leave the appraisal and purchasing of such treasures to Shao Yue. She felt buying any of them would be needlessly gambling with her money, considering her inexperience.

The pills and herbs didn't interest Cai Fei at all. If she needed pills, Shao Yue would make them. If Shao Yue needed herbs, Shao Yue would pay for them, or the merchant guild would provide them. It would simply be a waste to purchase them.

As for the many valuable ores, they would be going into a place named the Eternal Ore Domain before long. Who would be crazy enough to purchase ores ahead of time when they had a good chance of simply finding them? Certainly not Cai Fei. Only materials used in array construction could catch her eye.

She browsed through everything on display and then chatted a bit with the merchants. One of them agreed to bring her a book on array plates on the following day, so she left happy.

Next, Cai Fei paid a visit to the kitchens in order to prepare dinner.

She knew Shao Yue had put forth the condition that she would be in charge of Shao Yue's meals so that she could gain more experience in cooking. She didn't hate it. Ever since they had the meal at the Hundred Delicacies Pavilion, she had a stronger desire to improve her culinary skills.

There was also the slight feeling that, if she accepted finished meals from the chefs instead of making them herself, it would be like admitting the chefs were better than her. Her competitive spirit didn't like that. Even if they were, she would still stubbornly do her best.

The chefs were all quite friendly, perhaps due to knowing Cai Fei's status. They gave some unsolicited advice and answered any questions she had. At some point, she had stopped treating strangers with hostility, so she managed to get along well with them.

When Shao Yue tasted the food, she revealed a trace of surprise. "It seems like those chefs have taught you some good things! I look forward to your progress over the next two years."

Cai Fei scoffed, but the veiled praise did make her a little happy.

The two returned to their usual activities after eating and passed the night peacefully.

The next day, Shao Yue went to finalize her temporary employment with the Guild Master, while Cai Fei went to the trade hall and exchanged for the information on array plates. It came in the form of a jade slip, which Cai Fei didn't know what to do with, so she could only wait for Shao Yue's return.
