The sect had eighty-one peaks, each of which could put forth twenty disciples. Not every peak was occupied and not every occupied peak could put forth a full twenty Spiritual Manifestation Realm cultivators, but the number of participants still well exceeded one thousand.
The tournament was not in an elimination style. In each round, everyone who could still fight, would fight. Participants would be matched according to their record. Ones with three wins in a row would be matched against others with three wins in a row. Ones with three losses in a row would similarly be matched with others with three losses in a row. In this way, the standings would be determined.
The rules were rather simple. Participants could not kill their opponent. Pills could not be used during battle. Pills that gave temporary power boosts couldn't be used. Participants wouldn't be matched up against others from their peak.
Beyond that, almost anything was allowed.
The first of Shao Yue's disciples to attract attention was Sun Anrou. A massive white tiger stood beside her, its black stripes jagged like lightning bolts. It was twice as tall as Sun Anrou with bulging muscles rippling across its body.
Sun Anrou gently drifted up and landed on its back, her soft pink robe making her resemble a floating cherry blossom. She patted the tiger's head and prepared for battle.
The next to cause a stir was Xiao Shi'er.
Although ten years had passed, she still had a youthful look, having opted to lock her appearance at the age of seventeen. As she fought, she had a wild expression, smiling widely and laughing.
She didn't summon her Spirit. She opted for a one versus two battle.
That alone wasn't enough to shock the crowds. The shock came when her opponent managed to land a blow, cutting a gash into her exposed arm.
The droplets of blood flew through the air, then gathered together in several balls before shooting towards the enemy in the shape of swords. Each one carried a strange wisp of flame.
She returned the favour and slashed into her opponent, sending his blood flying. Her wound sucked in his blood and closed itself, returning her to perfect condition.
"Blood cultivator! She's a blood cultivator!"
"Is that allowed?"
The people nearest to Lai Qiao turned their eyes to him for guidance.
He laughed. He'd expected Shao Yue to have reformed Xiao Shi'er's ways. "It will be good practice! See how a blood cultivator fights, you'll surely have to face many of them in the future!"
Likely, within the entire sect, Xiao Shi'er was the only one who openly practised a devilish art. Even if there would be others, Shao Yue was the only elder who would allow and even support it.
Many of her other disciples attracted attention not from their unique aspects, but simply from their strength as they won consecutive battles. Lin Xifeng, Xu Mingzhi, Zhu Jiao, and Peng Fuyi all fell into that category.
Ren Meili didn't have great strength, but her great defense did provoke some discussion, especially when she took a direct hit from a Sixth Stage cultivator without any visible damage. Her Steel Body Transmutation Technique combined with the Dragon Turtle Body that all of Shao Yue's disciples had learned gave her incredible sturdiness without even mentioning the profound armour she wore.
Female body cultivators were very rare, but it was what Ren Meili had decided to focus on after some deliberation.
She fought in a completely unique way, catching blades with her bare hands, seemingly unafraid of injury. As Lai Qiao watched, his thoughts naturally drifted to the Martial Emperor, Kong Shun.
