Shao Yue could fly quickly and for weeks at a time. They stopped at a few cities along the way to rest, experience the local delicacies, and observe the scenery together.

The carefree travelling was a nice change of pace. They had no time constraints. It could take four months, or they could fool around a bit and take six months. Even if they took a year, it wouldn't matter.

It felt more like a honeymoon or vacation.

They stopped at Jade Garden City for a few days, but Grandmaster Zeng was in retreat again, so Shao Yue simply left him a jade slip with a letter recorded telling him about the alchemy apprentices she'd taken and some of her experiences. They stayed in the same courtyard and enjoyed the nostalgia.

After two and a half months of travel, they came upon a familiar harbour town.

"I can't decide whether my memories of this place are good or bad," Cai Fei said. "I was kept in a cell as a slave, but it's also the place I first met you."

"It wasn't exactly a love at first sight thing, was it?"

Cai Fei thought back to when she'd first seen Shao Yue's true appearance. "Probably not."

"Is the place you grew up near here? Do you want to pay it a visit?"

Cai Fei shook her head. "I'm good."

"Alright. Then, let's find a ship to take us across the ocean."

"Can't you just fly?"

"Do you want to?"

"Why not?"

Shao Yue smiled. "Okay, then we'll fly. Give me a day to restore my qi first."

Flying could attract the attention of monster beasts, but the path between the mainland and the island was patrolled frequently, so it wasn't likely to be an issue. If they encountered trouble, Shao Yue would be able to deal with it, then Cai Fei could control the sword while Shao Yue rested.

A week later, they arrived without any significant mishaps.

"This is the place you were born?" Cai Fei asked, scanning the area as they flew.

"We still have to go to the other side of the island to reach the exact city," Shao Yue replied.

"The world energy is almost suffocatingly thin here."

"Yeah, it's even worse for me," Shao Yue said, nodding.

"I can see why people struggle to reach Nascent Soul."

Shao Yue pointed out some cities they flew by, mentioning various irrelevant facts and information that Cai Fei would almost certainly never use in the future, but Cai Fei still listened intently.

"There's the town I was born in."

"So shabby?"

"And further ahead, that's the Monsoon Sect where I stayed. You can see the Dancing Steel Sect over there, which is the sect I joined the first time around."

"They're both so tiny."

"The Immortal Steel Sect is simply massive." Shao Yue laughed. "But, yes, they are quite small. Let's head down."

Shao Yue descended into the middle of the Monsoon Sect, where the inner disciples stayed. Flying swords were pretty much unheard of in the sect, so her flashy arrival alarmed a lot of people and sent them running around in a buzz.

Cai Fei glanced around. Shao Yue put away the flying sword and waited patiently, her arms crossed.

A few of the sect's elders came out from the biggest nearby building, their eyes widening when they saw Shao Yue.
