Shao Yue and Cai Fei sat in a comfortable sofa with Zhu Jiao standing behind them. Across the table, Lai Qiao reclined in a relaxed manner. His two wives were still conducting the exams and so were not present.
Instead, there were two female servants that Shao Yue didn't recognize. One had slightly tanned skin and a foreign look. The other had a neat and well-groomed appearance. They both wore white robes and had cultivations at the peak of the Nascent Soul Realm.
"How many points did you end up getting? Seventy-six?"
"That's correct," Shao Yue replied, nodding. "Fei received forty-five."
"Both perfect scores, huh? Impressive. It's been a long time since we had anyone do that."
The servants poured tea. Shao Yue smiled and gave her thanks, giving the servants a good impression of her.
Shao Yue also had a good impression of the servants. Although they carried out their duties, they had an almost imperceptible sense of wanting to be more. They didn't want to be serving tea, they wanted to be cultivating, seeking higher heights.
Shao Yue liked those sorts of people. It was one of the main reasons why she had chosen Cai Fei back at the slave market.
"The more I see of you, the more interested I become," Lai Qiao said, smirking. "Do you truly have no interest in marrying me?"
"My apologies, but —"
Cai Fei wrapped an arm around Shao Yue's waist. "Seriously, could you people stop trying to steal my fiancee right in front of me? No means no."
Everyone's eyebrows shot up as they turned looks of shock towards Cai Fei. Even Shao Yue was taken aback, but she soon chuckled and put her own arm around Cai Fei's waist. "That's how it is."
Lai Qiao was the first to recover. He laughed. "So it was like that! I understand now."
Shao Yue felt he had developed some misconception, but it would be inconvenient to correct him, so she remained silent.
"Then, will you accept an Elder position?"
"As long as you can meet my conditions," Shao Yue replied.
"Name them."
"I'd like an entire peak with full control over how to develop it and who is allowed on it," Shao Yue stated. "After the initial construction, nobody will be allowed on it without permission. I also want three hundred sets of herbs for making cultivation pills of at least grade five mid-rank each month, and also these two women."
The servants exchanged a confused look.
"Those can barely be called conditions," Lai Qiao said, laughing again.
"Also, while I will defend the sect if it is attacked, I don't want my peak to be required to take part in attacks outside of the sect," Shao Yue continued. "Finally, I need a list of all of the disciples in the sect who are known to have a nonsensical Law Body, along with a description and where to find them."
"Certainly." He gestured to Zhu Jiao. "Miss Zhu here will be your intermediary with the sect at large. If we have messages for you, she will deliver them. If you have any requests or needs, she can relay them. Additionally, she'll be in charge of your budgeting. She comes from a sizable merchant family, so she is well qualified."
"I have no issues," Shao Yue replied.
"Then, it's settled. We'll deal with the formalities in a few days."
Shao Yue nodded. "Please provide a map of the peak. I'll mark what construction needs to be done and return it tomorrow."
"Zhu Jiao, prepare the map and the list of disciples after settling these four in a courtyard," Lai Qiao said. "I have to take care of arranging the ceremony."
