One day, the sect called for Shao Yue and the other elders to gather on the main peak, something that had never happened before.
When Shao Yue flew back to her peak, everyone watched her return with curious expressions.
Jin Liling voiced their thoughts. "What did they want to talk about that they had to summon all the elders for?"
"War is about to break out," Shao Yue reported casually.
"What?!"
"When I became an Elder, one of my conditions was that we wouldn't be forced into an offensive role, so we don't have to participate," Shao Yue continued. "Though, I will send some of you. Chunhua, Qiuhua, and Shi'er will go."
She turned to the twins. "You're the core of our sword formation. You two will take the lead in battle, and when the fighting calms down, you'll make pills for the army. It will be a good experience for you. Of course, I won't send you to places that are too dangerous."
"Understood!"
She then looked at Xiao Shi'er. "Shi'er, you follow the Blood Dao. War is like your natural habitat. You'll be able to advance very quickly there, and you'll be able to fight to your heart's content."
"If you didn't send me, I'd beg to go," Xiao Shi'er replied with a bright smile.
"As for the rest of you, you can decide on your own whether to stay or go. I don't mind either way. What do you think?"
Lin Xifeng said, "This continent isn't my home, so I don't feel any desire to protect it. I'll stay."
Xu Mingzhi said, "You've been good to me, but the sect hasn't, really. I'd rather stay here."
Zhu Jiao said, "Things are under control here. I'll go, and ensure information flows freely between the battlefield and here."
Jin Liling said, "I still haven't grasped the Dao of Time. I want to stay and keep pursuing it."
Peng Fuyi felt conflicted. She eventually decided, "I'll go. I can help repair armour and Liling might be able to devote herself more to her studies if I'm away for a bit."
Sun Anrou was also unsure. "Would the devil's path cultivators spare the animals?"
Shao Yue smirked. "Do animals have souls, blood, and bones?"
"I'll go!"
Ren Meili asked, "What do you think I should do?"
"I think you should focus on reaching the Heavenly Realm first," Shao Yue replied. "After that, I might ask Kong Shun to take you as a disciple. He'd be much better suited to teaching you."
Ren Meili shook her head. "If it weren't for you, I never would have reached Nascent Soul. I don't want anyone else as my master."
Shao Yue smiled. "Then, I won't force you. How about you, Fei? Do you want to search for your Dao on the battlefield, or stay here with me?"
Cai Fei obviously wanted to stay, but Shao Yue's words gave her pause. "Would it help me find my Dao?"
"If you figure it out, then great, if you don't, at least you eliminate some possibilities. There will be people to kill, people to save, people to protect. Victories, defeats, destruction, renewal. You'll see a lot of things."
Cai Fei thought about it. "I'll need more time to decide. Maybe I'll go for a bit, then come back."
"That also works. Okay, everyone who is planning to go, come with me to make the announcement to the rest of the peak. We need to inform everyone."
