Chapter 4: Rising Darkness

Andrea said "Explain" and he said, "It was only to seal this deal so I can't get this bonus at the end of the month". Andrea said "That still doesn't excuse you " and Jay said "C'mon Andrea, It's part of the job, I know you get hit on" and she says "Yes but you don't see me flirting back". Jay sighed and said, "Our jobs are different, my clients are tougher and I gotta pull all the stops but It's not like my ring wasn't on and that I don't have a picture of you on my desk". Andrea growled and said "So I'm the crazy one huh" and Jays said, "No you have every right to be mad at me for keeping you out of the loop, but can you forgive me?". Andrea sighed and said, "no I can't, I can sense you're hiding something and until you spill it I'm not going to forgive you and the fact that I had to find out this way, instead of you telling me makes this even worse".

Andrea drove back to work and moped around in her office until Paula came in and asked how her day was. She sits and rants to Paula about what had just happened between her and Jay and asked for her opinion which she knows will be completely honest. Paula sighed and said "You freaked out a little, but you do have a right to be angry at him for hiding secrets. Andrea grunted and said "I hate it when your right" before she realized she spoke too soon. Andrea saw through jays eyes that he was kissing another girl, but she cut the connection before seeing Jay push her off and tell her he was engaged. Andrea left work and headed to Jay's office building and up the stairs into jays office. She slammed the door open, and walked over to the woman, and socked her right in the mouth; breaking her jaw and sending a few teeth flying. Jay walked over to Andrea to stop her but she punched him in the face as well. Jay called the paramedics and told Andrea to leave in the angriest voice she had ever heard him speak in.

Andrea went downstairs, got into her car, and drove away regretting hitting Jay, She called him and tried to check on him but he spoke first. He said in a calm voice" Andrea I have been very understanding of you but you crossed the line when you hit me and cost me my job...yea that's right the woman you hit was a corporate CEO and she gave me the option of resigning or her pressing charges against you, so congratulations!". Andrea sighed and said I'm sorry its-" jay cut her off and said you were spying on me again but didn't get the full story so go ahead look at the full memory and you'll see I pushed her off...I had the camera footage and was going to report it to corporate like they asked".

Andrea sighed and said"I'm sorry, I didn't know and Jay said "Of course, you didn't, you jumped to conclusions, and acted on an impulse and it just hurts that my own wife can't trust me". Andrea felt guilt that she ket her anger overwhelm her and before she could apologize further, he hung After collecting his things and leaving his office, the CEO's eyes turned red as she said, "my work is done...their minds have been divided they should become vulnerable soon enough".

Unbeknownst to Andrea and Jay was that their bond becomes weaker when they are emotionally compromised and that the Anti-gods would exploit the hole they created. Jay drove home as the sun began to rapidly set and stomped into the house; cursing as Maya broke her meditation to see what the hubbub was about". Jay was getting ready to pack his clothes but it was Andrea who had beat him to it as her clothes were already gone. Maya came up behind him and said, "she left in a hurry about thirty minutes ago and said she was going to be late for a sleepover, but before I could answer her she was gone".

Jay sighed and said "No Maya, we had an argument and Maya said" I can see it now through your memories".Jay blushed hard and said"Hey I know you're my mom and all but please... privacy". Maya nodded and said " alright but this is bad, I need to talk to her" and jay frowned and said"why" and Maya said"the Anti-gods know that if they can get you apart, you both become vulnerable and easy to pick off".Jay said "well I'm sorry but she went too far, I've never hit her I've never doubted my trust in her but she has... Dream partners or not If she can't at least trust me then this isn't gonna work". Maya sighed and snapped her fingers and when she reappeared she was standing in front of Andrea in her old bedroom at her mother's house.
