Chapter 6: Losing Yourself

They reached the first city and slowly but surely made their way to the ancient temple and knocked out key guards only. Their powers could stun the gods but not destroy them and it was only because of the harmony in their hearts. As they reached Maldor they found that he was completely healed and no longer infected, but as soon as they freed him from his shackles an alarm went off and so some sort of chaotic force field surrounded the palace. The guards quickly rushed in but Andrea and Jay took them down.

After running like frightened children through the temple, they finally had escaped through the main gate into the gardens only to be surrounded on all sides so back into the temple they went. Maldor said, "Maya & Andrea listen closely...you can make a portal right here out of the chaos around us". They both said "How" and he said, "Channel the chaos through your bodies and filter it into harmonious power and open a portal, but do it slowly or you could explode your bodies". Andrea gulped hard and joined Maya while Jay snuck outside and kept the enemies away with his limited amount of powers and he was succeeding until a large Anti-god came....it was Ariel. Jay ran in and said "Ariel is here but she's kinda evil" and Maldor said "Hold her off" as she burst through the door.

Maya and Andrea had just opened the portal but it was too late, Ariel burst through the door, firing at them until Jay drew her fire and said "Get Maldor to safety, I'll join you in a minute, Andrea tried to run over to him but he used his powers to push her back towards the portal before using his final burst of energy to trap Ariel in a harmonic force field. He began to run towards the portal, but unfortunately, Ariel broke free, grabbed him by the leg, and sent him flying into a wall. Before he could get up, She fired a black beam of energy that vaporized him into ash that blew away. 

After seeing this, Andrea's knees gave out as Maldor and Maya dragged her through the portal and closed it quickly. "Jay!!!" Andrea screamed before bursting into tears and Paula and her mother came running over to her and asked what happened. Maya sighed and said, "My child has been killed rescuing Maldor". Julie and Paula gasped in disbelief as Andrea ran upstairs into her and Jay's bedroom and slammed the door. All that could be heard was crying... no one else spoke after Maya announced jays death...they just stood there in disbelief that things were so grim. Paula finally broke the silence and said" She's my bestie, I'll be the one to talk to her" as she turned and headed upstairs. Paula knocked on the door before walking in and finding the room in complete disarray, the once beautiful room had punch marks in the wall, pictures, and clothes thrown everywhere as well as furniture knocked everywhere.

As she walked further into the room, she saw a figure huddled in the corner, knees up to her chest, whimpering silently now. Paula walked over, sat next to her, and laid Andrea's head on her chest as she continued to whimper and shake. Andrea eventually cried herself to sleep which made Paula smile as she laid her on the bed and quietly left the room. She walked back downstairs and saw the others sitting around the television watching the local news until they saw her. Joanna stood up and said "How is she holding up?" and Paula said, "Horrible; she cried herself to sleep, so we have some time right now to figure out where to go from here...because I have no idea at this point". Maldor said, "I do, but Jay's death has thrown everything into disarray and the Anti-gods know it".

Maya said "Well what do we do ?" and Maldor said," For right now, take care of Andrea...her powers are useless as long as she's in this state". Everyone nodded in agreement until Maya spoke up and said "So there's no way to bring Jay back to life?" and Maldor said, "At the moment, no...his body was vaporized and that's what you need to regenerate him. I'm afraid he's lost for now...until we find enough harmonic energy and a fragment of him". Maldor walked over and turned on the lights, illuminating the house. The house was gorgeous and very similar to their now-destroyed family home. 

The living room was painted cream white with oak planking and brown furniture. There was a balcony that wrapped around the entire living room connecting the left side of the upstairs to the right side and it was kind of like walking around a pool. Maldor said, "There's a temporary force field of chaos masking our harmonic signs so we should be safe for a few days, but in the meantime, you guys should get some rest while I and Maya meditate...it helps keep our powers sharp since we do not require rest".
