Chapter 8: Death in two's

Maldor sighed and said "Excuse my bluntness but we're screwed at the moment until we find a way to fix this...if we can but between me and Maya combined, our power is nowhere near as strong as Jay or Andrea's...we control stars and nature...I'm afraid Andrea's regenerative power is one of a kind". Meanwhile, Andrea woke up in a room with Jay, and she gasped and called his name and he jumped hard and ran over to her and pulled her into a kiss. He frowned afterward and said "no...y-you can't be here...that would mean you're dead!!". She sighed and said "I'm sorry I couldn't live without you...I just wanted to escape the feelings, the guilt...the pain" as she began to cry. He held her and said" I'm upset you did this but I'm not gonna yell at you...I understand how you felt, so please don't cry".

Andrea sighed and said "Where are we?" and Jay said, "We're in the spiritual plain where all go when they die and whatever you want here, just think of it and it will appear". She gasped and said "Are you my actual Jay?" and he giggled and said, "Yes and to prove it I'll share something that isn't in your memories". He showed her what happened between him and the CEO after Andrea left the office, and that's when she breathed a sigh of relief. She said "I'm so sorry for everything I did to you" and he smiled and kissed her again and said," It'll take more than a punch to get you away from me". She smiled and said, "That's sweet". Jay sighed and said" You know you have to go back right?" Andrea frowned and said, "But why, I'm happy here with you".

Jay said, "That's not the point Andrea, now that we're both dead, millions are gonna suffer, including our families now". Andrea began to cry as she begged him to let her stay but he wouldn't budge. He cupped her cheek and said, "I would love to keep you here with me forever but you have a world to save and a life to live". Andrea cried harder and said "I have no life without you" and he grabbed her and said "Well if you go back, you might find a way to restore me like you did with Maya, but if not, then live for me and your family...they need you and I know they're falling apart right now without you, especially Paula. Jay wiped her tears, smiled at her, and said" You're my tough little ghost pepper" so give them hell when you get back and after you save the world, work on saving me if you can, and if not then I'll see you again in your dreams". 

Andrea said "What do you mean?" and he smiled and said, "You'll see when you get back but for now let's relax and spend some time together". She looked at him and said, "What if they can't bring me back, now that all harmonic power is gone?". Jay smiled and said, "If that happens then I won't be mad at you, we'll just accept that the universe is over as we know it". Andrea held him and said "Even when I screw up, you know just how to make me feel like a winner" and he said, "That's what I'm here for". Meanwhile, back in reality, things were very grim after Andrea's death and they were only going to get darker.

The sun rose again, marking the beginning of another day, and another day she had to live without her daughter. It had been a week since Andrea had died and her mother wasn't taking it well at all and no one dared to speak to one another about it. Instead, everyone went about their business. The gods were studying texts and conversing with each other, Paula was locked in Andrea's room all day, Raúl, as well as Joanna, were going about their daily activities and Andrea's mother continued to cook, clean, go out and hunt for food amongst anti-gods that used to be civilians. Finally, after a few days,  Andrea's grandmother; Joanna had enough and called for a family meeting, and despite not wanting to talk; no one dared to tell her no.

Everyone showed up in the living room and Joanna spoke up and said: "look I get we're all hurting it seems hopeless but this stops today....I miss my baby but sitting around waiting to be wiped out is not what her or Jay would've wanted at all". She smiled and continued speaking and said: "My baby was in pain and not thinking right but that's okay we make mistakes and it doesn't make her any less of an amazing person than she was". 

Raul stood up next to his wife and said "Tomorrow is a new day...a day we start talking and working together again and making sure that their deaths will not be followed by our own...make their loss have meaning and let them see that our family will not end with them but it will live on and thrive the way they wanted when they took on this mission". Everyone left the meeting with a smile, ready to fight for Andrea and finish this for her, Jay, and the family but first there were demons to be fought tonight, in more ways than one.
