Chapter 10: Origin of Failures

The sun rose over the bloodstained lawn of the new Mendoza residence, signifying the end of the night of terror and the beginning of a new optimistic day for the tragedy-laden family but in a few hours, they would face their first test as a renewed family. The day already started off differently as Joanna and Raúl were cooking breakfast instead of Andrea's mother and they had got up extra earlier along with Maya to help clean the house up after last night. One by one, everyone came to sit at the table and prepared to eat. Andrea's mother said, "It looks delicious Mom but why steak and eggs?"  Joanna smiled and said, "This is the military breakfast me and Raúl would be served when there was a long day of fighting ahead and today is gonna be a long one...I can absolutely feel it".

After eating, Maya and Maldor sat down to explain what had precipitated the events of last night, with the family. Maldor spoke first and said "The reason why those things wanted her body was to destroy it...I didn't want to raise your hopes by saying this but as long as Andrea's body is here, it can be regenerated, we just need to find the means of doing it". Paula sighed and said "If you created the universe then why don't you have the power to recreate life?". Maya spoke up and said, "our ancestors created the universe and removed the power from future generations as they feared it could be used for evil if harnessed by the wrong person...but they infused their powers into me and I became the guardian of these powers until I died and transferred them into a fragment to prevent their loss...which was a huge mistake".The only reason I'm still the most powerful god is that I can harness and control the power of all the stars, but all my previous powers were given to Andrea and Jay making them the most powerful humans".

Maya sighed and said, "In a way, this was my fault...but Agathor had to be stopped and since our new generation was unable to wield my powers I decided to split myself and create two people who could". Tears began to trickle down her face as she said "Look what good that did me?...all it did was add more blood on my hands and more suffering". Andrea's mother stood up and said "It did a lot of good, Andrea and Jay were an amazing duo". Maldor patted her shoulder and said, "You made some mistakes but they did what they felt was right".

Before anyone could say another word, the sky went black and frost covered the windows immediately. Maya fell down in pain as she screamed "My sun!!!...they just imploded the sun...there's a shockwave coming...we gotta leave here now". Maldor quickly began meditating fiercely as Maya continued to howl in pain. After trying for a few minutes, Maldor transported Andrea's body into the living room and linked with her as half of his body began to glow purple and the other half glowed red. Maldor's skin began to crack and black streaks ran up his arms neck and face as the house shook but within a few minutes it died down and a portal opened".

Maldor fell to his knees and weakly said "Go through quickly...take Andrea too". Paula grabbed Andrea's body and went through the portal while Raul and Andrea's mother pulled Maldor and Maya to safety just as the portal closed. When they walked through, they found themselves in a replica of their family home that burned down but something didn't feel right. As they looked out the window, there were green humanoid beings with antennas and webbed hands and feet walking about, driving, and doing normal things that humans would do.

After a few minutes, Maya regained consciousness and Paula looked at her and said "Where are we?...the people here are green and aliens". Maya smiled and said "Maldor transported us to a new galaxy and onto an alien planet within that galaxy...this was part of our final fallback plan we made a year ago... we're basically gonna live here for the rest of our lives cuz I got nothing". Maldor sat up and said "but I do" very weakly". The black streaks had mostly faded on his body and his skin was back to normal. He smiled and said, "I'm the only god now to have just channeled chaotic and harmonic energy together, mixed them, and did not explode but my power level is far below Andrea and Jay's capabilities".

Maya gasped and said, "So it is possible?" And Maldor nodded. Andrea's mother said, "What's possible?". Maldor said, "We now have a chance of ending this as well as bringing Andrea back from the grave". Paula smiled and said "Tell me what you need" and he smiled and said, "For right now...rest, we'll work on attempting to bring her back first thing tomorrow when we're charged up". Maya smiled and said "Don't be afraid, we can go outside, this species is harmless and they welcome visitors from other worlds so you'll fit right in but as for Earth... it's gone, the shockwave has wiped out the entire solar system by now  ". Everyone looked at each other in horror, until Joanna stood up and said, "Then it's settled, Paula and Julie will go get supplies with this alien money I just found on the table and the rest of us will get some rest".
