Chapter 5: Separation Panic

Andrea sat up and said "Did Jay send you?" and Maya said "No but We -" and before she could finish, Andrea's mother; Julie walked in and said, "Who are you ?".Andrea nodded at Maya and she turned to her mother and said "This is Maya the star goddess...My celestial stepmother who I helped bring back to life". Julie smiled and, said, "Nice to meet you but why are you here?". Maya groaned and projected the events of earlier onto the wall for all of them to see, including Joanna and Raul, who had slipped in to see what all the commotion was. After watching the playback, almost all eyes looked at Andrea as if scolding her. Her mother finally spoke and said, "Andrea that was a little extreme but Jay was wrong for not properly communicating with you what goes on at his job".

Andrea teared up and said, "I'm sorry okay I don't know what came over me but just seeing something I loved being taken just snapped something in me". Maya said, "That's just what I feared...the Anti-gods are trying to keep you apart, we have to go back to Jay immediately". Before Maya could snap her fingers, the civil Alarms went off and shooting could be heard throughout the streets. Paula ran up the stairs saying" I don't mean to intrude but yea there are these black, red-eyed things attacking the city so I rushed over here as fast as I could to ask what in the hell is happening!".

Before Maya could explain, these creatures had broken the glass doors and windows and smoke could be smelled. Maya said, "They're going to attempt to eliminate Andrea, Jay, and me before I can explain the whole situation fully...quickly we must get to Jay". Maya tried to snap her fingers but nothing happened and the house was now fiercely burning. Andrea quickly ran to her balcony door and slid it open and tied her bedsheets into a rope and said "Slide down, run to the garage, and get in Mom's truck". Her mother said "I don't have my keys" and Andrea said, "No worries" as they slid down the ladder after everyone else was out". Andrea got into her mother's white Ford and ripped off the paneling under the wheel, hotwired the car, and sped out of the driveway into the moon-filled night, after telling the others in the truck bed to lay flat and hold onto the straps so that they were out of sight.

Andrea's mother who was in the passenger seat began to tear up and said "That house is irreplaceable, 3 generations of our family lived there after they built it". Joanna patted her daughter's shoulder and said "Well honey, we'll be the first generation to build a new one, but the important thing is that we still have a family to rebuild with". Raúl smiled and said, "Yep, I've been meaning to improve some parts of the house anyway". As they continued to drive, they saw fires and civil unrest everywhere in their once-beautiful city.

Andrea continued driving until she reached their beautiful 2-story house and quickly put her key into the lock and ushered everyone into the house as quickly as possible. The house was pitch black as Andrea walked through and called Jay's name repeatedly until something grabbed her and groaned out in pain. She pulled him up to his feet and went to turn on the lights until he screamed "No they're watching the house "Maya said, "Well what happened to you?"  And he said," Those things ambushed me and I drained myself fighting them but for some reason, I can't harness any more power from the stars". Maya said "They're infecting the stars in the solar system...as each one gets infected with chaotic energy, the weaker our powers get...but theoretically we can harness the chaos and channel it through our minds like a filter and turn it into positive energy or mix both into one safely.

Andrea said "Well, teach us then and Maya said "I do not know how only Maldor knows but he and Ariel were captured and the study of these powers was banned... punishable by death". Andrea said "Whelp we're fucked then". Maya said" wait just a minute...Maldor is alive, he's in the temple being held in one of the lower tombs that were dedicated to our ancestors". Andrea said "Well alright let's go then and Maya Said," It's dangerous, only us three May go". Andrea said what about our powers" and Maya said" Focus on the stars farther away from Earth and draw power from them for now". Andrea closed her eyes and did what Maya said "and it wasn't before long that she used her powers to heal Jay.

He smiled and said, "Thank you for helping me...I guess after we get back, we can talk things out, after all, you're my spicy Habanero and I wouldn't have you any other way". Andrea blushed and said "Please not in front of my mom" as her mom giggled and said, "Don't mind me, Just go". With that, Maya opened a portal to the celestial plain, and off they went.
