Chapter 24: Last Resort

Andrea quickly ran into the other room and found jay smashed into a wall, and pinned down by Malomus who was blasting him with a full beam of energy that was disintegrating everything around him. If it wasn't for the forcefield of energy around him, he would be vaporized, and as fate would have it, his powers were starting to weaken. Andrea tried to blast Malomus but he turned around and fired a beam at her through his eyes, which sent her flying into a wall; leaving her dazed. Malomus smiled and said, "it doesn't matter if you have my crystal, you can't use it because it'll just turn you into another me, you can't do anything you pathetic little girl, except watch me vaporize your boyfriend".

Jay's voice echoed through Andrea's head and it said "let go Andrea...use the crystal.. you've got to do it". Andrea began to tear up as she screamed "no I can't do it, I'll kill everyone" and jay said, "no you won't, but he will if you don't hit him". Andrea took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and began to channel power from the crystal and faraway stars in unison. She ignored her training and began to channel power way faster than anyone should ever attempt to, and she hadn't blown herself up yet, so she continued. Andrea began fighting off flashbacks of jay dying and the tears her family shed when she died and fortunately it helped increase the power output but destabilized her powers.

After seeing her actually harness the energy, Malomus attempted to attack her but could not penetrate the shield of harmonic chaos that surrounded her, so he called more of the anti-gods to attack her which didn't make a difference. Despite this, he went back to attempting to destroy jay who was now back on his feet and ready to fight again. Andrea was still channeling the power while fighting back a mental breakdown that the crystal's chaotic power was continuously enhancing and jay saw this as he continued fighting, and he told her two words "let go". Andrea was scared to release it, but after seeing the images of the last 4 months on repeat, she cracked and released all the energy. 

The beam of harmonic chaos shot towards Malomus and jay which unfortunately spread out and engulfed the entire room, and possibly the city, vaporizing everything. Andrea fell to her knees, unconscious and injured, but still alive. She only lay there for a few minutes before 3 sets of hands pulled her body up and carried her off, into the hallway it was Maya, Maldor, and Jay. Maya smiled before helping jay heal her and within a few minutes, Andrea's eyes slowly opened. She sat up and said "did I do it?" and jay smiled, kissed her cheek, and said, "you did it, he and the anti-gods around the palace were vaporized but unfortunately the crystal survived, but at least it's in our possession now". Andrea sighed and said "how did I do that without him channeling with me? and Maldor walked over and said, "I never said you couldn't channel chaos, I said both of your combined energy is needed to destroy the crystal and filter the chaos".

Maya ran over and said, "I hate to cut your talk short but the rest of the anti-gods are closing in on the palace...I know you're weak, but you have to start filtering the chaos now, or we're goners". Andrea and jay walked back into Maya's destroyed quarters and over to the ledge, joined hands, closed their eyes, and began the procedure. As jay absorbed the chaos and Andrea filtered it back out with added powers, it slowly began to work. The citizens of the city began slightly changing back to their normal appearance, and seeing this, Maya, Maldor, and Ariel joined in but that's where things turned sour. As citizens turned to normal, the ones that were still infected would re-infect the others and soon enough, they became immune.

Andrea said "fuck this, let's just vaporize them and Maya and Maldor said in unison "no, that would wipe out our whole race" and Andrea said "we'll create new ones" and Maya said "no it's not that easy, they would need to age normally and be raised all over again and the 5 of us can't teach, raise kids and protect the universe all at once". Maldor spoke up and said, "plus, gods aren't made out of elements from nature, we're made from pure space and time and are able to add elements to ourselves to modify our appearances to look like anything".

 Before anyone could say anything else, the Anti-gods forced them out of the destroyed upper part of the palace and into a hallway. Maya sighed and said, "Maldor we need to figure something out or abandon the mission because I refuse to kill every last one of our people". Andrea and jay walked off together to discuss the situation and that's when Andrea stumbled onto something huge that just might be their ticket out of this mess.
