The bell to the cafe rang as an echo throughout the store. The smell of baked goods filling up the almost empty shop. There are four stacks of chairs towards the right of the cafe, each consisting of five chairs. The only available seats being the booths located alongside the left wall. Two fans keep the store at a cool temperature.
At first sight, one would think the store was closed. No one was at the register, and everything was put away neatly, not to mention it's was twelve-thirty in the morning. But the illuminated blue and red sign outside that read "open" said otherwise.
The moon shone through the glass of the store and cast a light into the poorly lit cafe. Stars were twinkling in the night sky as if saying "Go on, speak."
The only other sound that could be heard was the tree leaves that swayed with the light wind.
A figure popped out from the back of the shop. He was tall and lean. "Hello, what can I get for" he paused. The person standing at the door to the shop was the same boy that came yesterday. His hair was messier than when he saw him in class that day. He had made an effort to find the ginger-haired boy during History class. He was proud to have caught sight of him quite fast.
His clothes made it look like he had fallen in a mud pit, for splatters of dirt etched along with the fabric. The kid looked sad. His face hung low and he fidgeted with his hands. The cashier finally brought his attention to the eyebags that hung under the boy's eyes.
"Just a table for one."
