It was the first time Shouyou hadn't come to the cafe in weeks. To say Kageyama was worried was an understatement. Shouyou had always come no matter what, he once even came with a 102° fever, so his absence was... worrying. Kageyama had considered sending the ginger a text, but that felt obsessive. Maybe just a check in. That couldn't hurt, right?

"Hey are you doing alright?" No
"You didn't show up today, is something wrong?" No
"Did i do something?" No
"I know it's none of my business but I just wanted to check in and make sure you were alright."

God, was that too weird? Granted, this entire situation is weird, what's a little extra weirdness?
Three dots appeared on the left side of Kageyama's phone screen, indicating Shouyou was typing.

m'fine. just tired. thanks
Oh god, Shouyou must think he's so weird for asking that. He never should've said anything. Sure it's weird, but it's just one absence, Kageyama deadpanned.
One of Kageyama's coworkers walked in, signaling it was the end of the formers work period. He quickly signed up for the next days late night shift, packed his things, and left.

It took Kageyama much longer to fall alseep that night. Is it so weird to be worried about his friend? This wasn't normal for him. But again, having a friend at all was already weird for him.
He should just stop trying. He's obviously coming off too harsh, that must be why Shouyou keeps avoiding him. Good job Tobio, another failed attempt at trying to be nice.
Kageyama is forced out of his thoughts by his phone flashing on via notification.
