Shouyou wasn't at his house.
He was actually at some neighborhood park kids would go to during the summer when they ran out of fun things to do.
It was the kind of park cheesy couples would go to after getting dinner at 9pm and confessing their love on the swing-set.
It was the kind of park that teenagers would draw dicks on the slides with the sharp ends of rocks.
It was not the kind of park that you would find a small boy crying at, on top of the playground.
Kageyama climbed the rock wall over to where Shouyou was sitting, curled up in a ball against the metal railings that were far to wide to actually keep kids from falling. But Hinata was just wide enough to not fall through.
Kageyama sat a foot away from Shouyou. not knowing what to do, he stared up into the sky. After taking a few deep breaths in and out, he finally asked,
"are you okay?"
The question very obviously started Shouyou, as he clearly flinched at the sound.
There was a clear silence after the question. The only noise was the occasional cricket or katydid that would chirp.
Then, a laugh.
Well, less of a laugh and more of a chuckle.
Kageyama wasn't even sure Shouyou knew how to laugh, the initial noise first causing him to think the other boy was crying.
But no, he was laughing, covering his mouth with his hand as his body shook.
"Is something the matter?" Kageyama didn't know how to respond.
Shouyou finally calmed down. "I mean, something /was/ the matter but.." another chuckle. "Are you okay??" Shouyou mocked. "Seriously? What do you think?". He began to laugh again.
Kageyama scrunched his eyebrows. Shouyou was making fun of him.
"Rude. It was just a simple question."
"A stupid question."
"Tsk"
Shouyou laughed again. And this time, Kageyama kind of felt like laughing too.
"Thanks.". Shouyou finally said, after calming down.
"What for?"
"Coming."
