Scarlett's Mistake

Chapter 59

"Kaiden? Here, eat some veggies. It's your favourite."

The boy just let Lia put some vegetables on his plate. He kept being absentminded throughout the dinner.

Everyone were in their own worlds but Lia caught their attentions as she put some food on the boy's plate.

The oblivious girl, who's used of doing that, narrowed her eyes when she noticed that the boy kept looking at his plate without moving any limb.

"Hey," she whispered and put a hand over Kaiden's arm that was resting upon the table, causing the boy to look at her. "Are you okay?"

"Y-Yeah. Don't w-worry about me." Kaiden gave her a small tight smile before he accidentally looked at Scarlett who were sitting across him.

His heart palpitated when he saw her deadly glare fixed onto Lia's hand that was slightly caressing his arm. Kaiden's other hand seems like it had its own life and brain because it immediately removed Lia's hand.

The boy gulped visibly and looked at the mafia queen again who's now staring at him coldly, she kept chewing the piece of meat in her mouth as her right hand stabbed the steak on her plate more with her fork.

W-Why is she g-glaring at me?

"Hey, Coldy, stop stabbing the poor meat," Louie suddenly spoke with his teasing voice, causing Kaiden and Scarlett look at him.

The mafia queen glared at the sniper before she looked at Kaiden again who also looked at her.

They stared at each other without blinking. Confusion, surprise, longing, and love were adorning Kaiden's eyes, and Scarlett could see it but she just threw a cold, dangerous stare at him, her eyes were filled with anger, annoyance, and hatred.

Kaiden could see it and he isn't used to those eyes who are looking at him with those emotions.

Scarlett's eyes used to hold softness and love with it everytime she look at him but now, it's different and it's intimidating him.

Kaiden don't know what to do. He couldn't even guess what he did that made her like that.

W-What happened w-within the past four months? he thought, which was left unanswered.

"Hey, Andrew," the president called his older son, which caused the tensed atmosphere to lessen. "Open the wines. You all can drink as I and Mr Montanari will talk."

"Alright, dad."

Andrew proceeded in opening the expensive wines as the two old mafia bosses stood up and went to the president's office

The thick, tensed silence reigned again but it was immediately broken by Lia who spoke with her voice that was filled with glee, which is her way to lessen the awkward atmosphere around them;

"Your son is so handsome," she uttered while looking at Keira and Austin's son who's currently being carried by his father.

She was sitting across the couple so she could clearly see the baby who's now sleeping peacefully.

"Hey, don't tell me your flirty side is on again? He's a baby, bitch," Andrew spoke with a grimace, and since he's sitting beside Lia, he received a smack at the back of his head.

"I'm just telling that he's handsome, jerk!"

"It's your sentence whenever you want to seduce someone, bitch."

"Hey! There's a baby here! No curses!" Louie interrupted the little bicker between the two.

Andrew and Lia huffed as the sniper rolled his eyes at them.
