Later that day I lay in my bed, reading. I had one book, and a couple magazines, in my car when I escaped my house. I've read them about ten times now. I was worried about Rick's group. They should have been back by now. After I finished my chapter I walked towards the rest of the group.

Andrea and Amy were fishing in the creek. I was chatting with Carol when they came back with at least two dozen of fish. "Oh, baby. Will you look at that? Hey, check it out" Morales laughed happily as he stood up. Andrea handed him her half. Some of us started clapping at the two fishers. "Ladies, because of you my children will eat tonight." Morales thanked them.

"Thank Dale," Andrea started in reply, "Its his canoe and gear."

"Mom, look! Look at all the fish!" Carl told his mom exitedly, "Wow!"

"Yeah wow. Where did you two learn to do that?" She asked the two.

"Our dad" Amy replied.

"Can you teach me how to do that?" Carl asked.

"Sure. I'll teach you all about nail knots and stuff. If that's okay." She glanced at Lori

"Oh, you won't catch me arguing." She replied.

"Hey Dale," Andrea started as Dale came walking by, "When was the last time you oiled those reels? They're a disgrace"

"I, uh.. I dont want to alarm anyone but we may have a bit of a problem." He replied

Shane came walking towards to see what was going on. Dale turned around and pointed to Jim he was far away digging something. Dale told us he was digging graves and that he already tried to talk to him. As everyone was gatherd around the RV he said we should try and stop him before he fell down. Most of us started walking towards Jim.

As we arrived Shane mover further to him. "Hey, Jim... Jim, why don't  you hold up, all right? Just give me a second here, please."

Jim grunted, "What do you want?"

"We're all just a little concerned, man, that's all"

"Dale said you've been out here for hours." Morales joined

"So?" Jim asked

"So, why're you digging?" Shane asked in reply, "Are you heading to China, Jim?"

"What does it matter? I'm not hurting anyone."

"Yeah, exept maybe yourself. It's a hundred degrees today. You can't keep this up." Dale joined.

"Sure I can. Watch me."

Lori walked foward next to Dale. "Jim, they're not gonna say it, so I will. You're scaring people. You're scaring my son and Carol's daughter." I looked over to them, they looked fine to me.

"They got nothing to be scared of." Jim assured her, "I mean what the hell people? I'm out here by myself. Why don't y'all just go and leave me the hell alone?"

"We think that you need to take a break, okay" Shane said, "Why don't you go and get yourself in the shade? Some food maybe. I'll tell you what, maybe in a little bit I'll come out here and help you myself. Jim, just tell me what it's about. Why don't you just go ahead and give me the shovel?"

"Or what?"

"There is no 'or what'. I'm asking you. I'm coming to you and I'm asking you, please. I dont want to take that from you."

"And if I don't, then what?" Jim asked, "They you're ginna beat my face in like Ed Peletier, aren't you? Y'all seen his face, huh? What's left of it!." Everyone was quiet. "See, now that's what happens when someone crosses you." He continued.

"That was different, Jim" Shane defended.

"You, weren't there. Ed was out of control. He was hurting his wife." I told him.

"That was their marriage. That is not his" He shot back loudly, "He's not judge and jury. Who voted you king boss, huh?"

"JIm, I'm not here to argue with you, all right?" Shane tried to calm him, "Just give me the shovel, okay?"

"No, no, no." Jim tried to hit Shane with the shovel. Shane pushed him to the ground. "You got no right!" He yelled towards him while fighting back. Shane tried to calm him down. It worked. They were talking to eachother I barely heard any of it. I was stanging a bit in the back. But the rest looked shocked.
