Fuck. 'Facility-wide decontamination' did not sound like a good thing. and it was gonna happen in an hour. Rick, Shane, Glenn and T-Dog went to the basement to check the fuel storage. Everyone else went back to their rooms. I started to pack my bag. Not that I really unpacked it but I kept it within reach. Daryl did the same.

"Ye wanna talk 'bout it?" He asked.

"Huh?" I answerd.

"'bout last night. What we did."

"Oh that. Yeah, we probably should."

"So.. Uhm.."

"Yeah.. Uh..."

This was the best and smoothest conversation ever.

"We were drunk. So.. Does it count?" I started after a couple of akward seconds.

"Yeah, we were shit-faced drunk."

"Yeah. But does that count?"

"No, I don't think so. Anyone could've done what we did."

I agreed with him I could have had slept with anyone when I was that drunk. "So we're goo-" I started when I realised it was awefully quiet in the room. I grabbed a chair and put it underneath the aircontitioner. "Woah. What are ye doin'?" Daryl asked. I put my hand under the airco and felt nothing. "The airconditioning stopped." I concluded. A few seconds later the light went out. "The hell's goin'on?" He asked.

We hear movement on the hallway. It was Jenner. Everyone went to their door amd asked him why everything went off. Jenner grabbed the wine bottle out of Daryl's hand while answering their questions, "Energy use is being prioritized."

"Air isn't a priority? And lights?" Dale asked.

"It's not up to me. Zone 5 is shutting itself down."

We started following him. "Hey! Hey, what the hell does that mean?" Daryl questioned him, "Hey, man, I'm talking to you. What do you mean it's shuttin' itself down? How can a building do anythin'?"

"You'd be surprised." Was all that came out of Jenner. Rick was asking him what was happening since he came in late and he answerd his question with something about the system dropping all the useless uses op power and that it was designed to keep the computers running until the last second wich starts as we approach th 30 minute mark. It was right on schedule.

He gave Daryl his wine back. "It was the french." Jenner told us. "What do you mean?" I asked.

"They were the last ones to hold out as far as I know. While our people were bolting out the doors and commiting suicide in the hallway, they stayed in the labs till the end. They thought they were close to a sulution."

"What happened?" Jacqui questioned him.

"Same thing that's happening here. No power grid. Ran out of juice." He started. "The world runs on fossil fuel. I mean, how stupid is that?"

Shane ran towards him in 'attack mode', Rick tried to stop him. He told us to go and grab our things. We ran towards the exit when an alarm started blaring. It was the 30 minute mark. Shane told us to go en get our stuff. I saw in the corner of my eye that Jenner was typing something. The doors closed. We were locked in. Jenner sat down and the men ran to him. He sat on his chair and talked into the computer. Daryl attacked him but Shane stopped him right on time before it could get any worse. "Jenner, open that door now." Rick threathend.

"There's no point. Everything topside is locked down. The emergency exits are sealed."

"Well, open the damn things." Dale orderd.

"That's not something I control. The computers do. I told you. Once that front door closed it wouldn't open again. You heard me say that." He pointed towards Rick. Not one of us knew what to say. We were all going to die within 28 minutes. "Its better this way." Jenner continued.

"What is?" Rick asked, "What happens in 28 minutes?"

Jenner ignored him compleatly and started typing on his keyboard.

"What happens in 28 minutes?" Rick shouted.

"You know what this place is?" He responded loudly, "We protected the public from very nasty stuff. Weaponized smallpox! Ebola strains that could wipe out half the country! Stuff you don't want getting out! Ever!" It fell quiet after he said that, well more yelled. Everyone was shocked.

"In the event of a catastrophic power failure, in a terrorist attack, for example. HITs are deployed to prevent any organisms from getting out."

"HITs?" Rick asked him.

"Vi, define."

"HITs, high-impulse theromabaric fuel-air explosives, consists of a two-stage aerosol igintion that produces a blast wave of significantly greater power and duration than any other known explosive exept nuclear. The vacuum-pressure effect ignites the oxygen between 5,000 and 6,000 degrees and is useful where the greatest loss of life and damadge is desired."
