dear malia,

i awoke to the sound of my mum shaking me.
"hannah," i heard mum say. "hannah, honey." she shook me and my eyes fluttered open.
"oh, hi," i said, rubbing my eyes and yawning.
"morning," she said, smiling. "did you sleep well?"
i nodded. "h-how's josh?"
she glanced over to her son. "i'm not sure. i just got here."
"can you get a nurse? i want to find out how he's doing," i asked her, standing up.
"no, sweetie," she said. "get something to eat first then we'll worry about josh."
but i wasn't hungry. all i wanted was for josh to be okay. nothing else mattered.
"o-okay," i hesitantly agreed. i headed down to the cafeteria and as i stood in line, i looked around. the place was filled with sick patients all with their own stories. i spotted a couple. the boy was in a wheelchair, his hair all gone. the girl who sat across from him was talking animatedly, and he just stared at her, admiring her. it was as if he only saw her, and her only. i hope to find someone like that someday.

truly,
hannah

A/N more of a filler but good stuff is coming. i have this whole book planned out & thats a first
