dear malia,
lila handed me an envelope and when i opened it, i saw three tickets.
"they're tickets to that band you like, imagine dragons!" she said excitedly. "i thought it would be fun if we all went together."
i hugged her so tight and she laughed. "lila, thank you so much!"

after the concert, i was so happy and i wished i could just live in that moment forever. i thanked lila again and we began our drive back to the motel.
josh turned the radio on and we started singing along to a catchy pop song.
lila was driving, but that didn't stop her from singing along and bobbing her head along.
it made me laugh, and it felt like forever since i've laughed.
i so wished you could be here with us all.
lila threw her head back with laughter, taking her eyes off the road for two seconds.
but that was long enough.
she didn't see the car speeding past the stop sign, crashing into us.
a few minutes later, all i heard were the distant sounds of sirens.
