When Josie opened her eyes she saw the sun shining down at her through the slits in her curtains, she could hear the sounds of cars honking, and dogs barking outside her small apartment complex.

Today was Josie's final practice before her big game against the Salvatore boarding school so she had to leave extra early today.

"Lizzie it's time to get up," the brunette said shaking her sister's arm.

"Five more minutes" she mumbled.

"Don't make me pull the blanket off of you" she threatened.

"Fine" her sister groaned before rolling out of the bed and onto the floor.

"It's your turn to give her, her meds," Lizzie said standing up and making her way toward the bathroom.

"I know," she sighed as she walked out of their shared room and to the living room where their mother was laying in her hospital bed.

"Good morning" her mother greeted with a weak smile.

"Good morning mom" the girl smiled, placing a kiss on her mother's cheek.

The teen made her way over to the dresser and pulled out the bin filled with different pill bottles and began opening them and taking out the one's her mom needed to take.

"My last practice is today" Josie looked up at her mom as she took two pills out.

"Yeah?"

"Yeah" she nodded and looked back down as she closed the lid to the last pill bottle "it's the last practice before my first game of the season."

"Are you excited?" her mother questioned.

"I mean yeah" she shrugged before making her way over to the kitchen and grabbing a glass of water.

"It's just a lot of pressure sometimes but I'm excited to play with my team again" she handed her mom the glass of water along with a small cup filled with various pills.

"I should come to your game," her mother said as she took her medicine and handed Josie back the glass.

"Are you up for that? are you still feeling weak?"

Her mother kept quiet.

"Mom."

"A little bit but it's nothing I can't handle honey... and it's your first game of the season I never miss your first game..."

"That was before..." Josie swallowed "you got diagnosed with cancer, you need to rest mom... it's just a stupid game..." she said not meaning it, she would love nothing more than for her mom to support her like all the other moms but it just wasn't possible.

"This could be my last chance-"

"We don't talk like that, you are here."
