"You said yes to a date?" her mother said as soon as the teenager had told her. The woman was looking at her and shaking her head.
"Yes...?"
"I thought you were dating Josie? did something happen between you two?" her mother put her hand on the girl's shoulder and gave her a look of sympathy.
"What? no, we were never dating! why do people think we are dating??" Hope shook her head.
"Well can you blame me? I walked outside seeing you two about to kiss" Hayley said stirring the gumbo she was making.
"We fell, I just so happened to fall on top and you walked out at the wrong time."
"Okay honey I believe you, no need to get so offensive" the woman chuckled and turned off the burner. Hayley turned her head and looked at her daughter "so do you like this boy?"
Hope sat there for a moment thinking "I mean yeah I guess? we kinda just met but he's nice and nerdy."
"Do you know where you two are going?"
"I think the movies? he wants to see this new Avatar movie which admittedly looks boring but I'll go anyway" she shrugged.
"Sounds fun," Hayley said before checking the text on her phone "set the table, Stefan is turning onto our street right now."
Hope sighed and got off of the stool, she made her way over to the cabinet and grabbed three bowls, and three cups then grabbed three spoons from the drawer before walking over to the dining room table.
She set the table, putting Stefan and Hayley's placements close to each other. She was about to walk back into the kitchen when she heard the door ring.
"I'll get that" she called out and made her way over to the door opening it for Stefan.
Stefan was dressed nicely and was holding a bouquet of white roses in his hand, the man looked kind of nervous.
"Hey, coach Stefan" Hope nodded at him before stepping to the side so the man could walk in.
The teenager and her coach just stood there awkwardly staring at each other. After a moment they saw Hayley come out of the kitchen with a bright smile on her face.
"Hey" the brunette smiled and kissed her boyfriend.
"Hey" he smiled back before holding out the roses "I got you these."
"Thank-You" she kissed his cheek "let's eat, I made gumbo."
When Hope made her way into school the next day she saw Landon waiting for her by her locker, the boy had a smile on his face.
"Hey, you" he gave her a goofy smile.
"Oh hey Landon" she gave him a polite and opened her locker, taking out her history books.
"Just wanted to make sure we were still ok for tonight?" Landon said looking almost nervous. Hope chuckled and nodded at the boy.
"Yes, we are still on."
"Yeah... okay cool so I'll pick you up at your house at 7," he said as he backed up, the boy backed into a locker in the process.
He rubbed the back of his neck trying to play off the whole thing "i meant to do that..." he said before turning and making his way toward his class.
Hope rolled her eyes at the boy before turning and walking to her history class. When she was in the room she saw Josie and sat next to her.
"Hey," she said and the brunette just ignored her not even batting sn eyelashes
"Hello?" she said again. This time the girl glanced at her before looking back to the board.
"Is something wrong?" she furrows her eyebrows.
Hope didn't get to ask any further questions because a moment later their teacher walked into the classroom and began teaching.
She didn't understand why the brunette was ignoring her. I mean sure she would understand if this was She and Josie a few months ago but the Josie now is different.
Hope spent the rest of the class thinking about what she could have done to make the brunette mad at her.
When Hope got home that evening she was still thinking about Josie. With a sigh, she decided she didn't want the girl to plague her thoughts anymore, so she started looking for the outfit for her date.
Hope held up a pink sweater and immediately shook her head "absolutely not" she threw it on her bed.
"No" she threw a shirt on her bed.
"Gross I didn't even know I owned this" she held up a shirt that had a unicorn on it and said unicorn rocks. Hope chuckled the shirt into the trash before digging some more.
She threw another shirt and it was caught by her mom who walked into the room "Woah what's going on in here? are you starting spring cleaning early?"
"My date is in an hour, I'm trying to find something nice to wear."
"Hm, I can help you out, you're only going to the movies right?" the woman said and Hope nodded in response.
"I think you should do something basic," she said pulling out a red long sleeve and taking out a pair of jeans "wear this with your combat boots, you'll look beautiful."
"Thanks, mom," Hope said hugging the woman's

Hope was on her phone scrolling through twitter when she heard the doorbell. As she went to get up Hayley made her way to the door.
"Mom, I've got it."
"I wanna meet this boy before you go anywhere," she said and Hope groaned.
When she saw the door open Landon was standing there in a green flannel and jeans."Uh- hi! I'm Landon I'm here to take Hope out" he flashed the woman a smile "you must be Hope's mom."
"That I am, I'm Hayley" she held her hand out and Landon shook it.
"Hi Hayley," he said before his gaze went over to the shorter girl. His smile widened when he saw the girl "you look pretty."
"Thanks" she smiled back.
"Well, mom we are going to leave now so you can... you know, go."
"Alright alright but I want her home by 10 Landon, it's a school night" she pointed and the boy nodded.
"Yes ma'am."
