Josette had been home from the hospital for a few days now and Josie could tell that the woman was getting weaker and weaker. But her mom continued putting on a brave face.
"Do you want me to stay home? I can..." Josie said sitting on the bed and looking at her mom who softly shook her head.
"I'm okay baby, you go and hang out with your friends I'm fine here" she smiled and caressed her daughter's cheek.
Josie nodded sadly before pulling her mom into a hug "I love you so much..." she said to the woman hoping it wouldn't be the last time. Praying that when she got back home her mom would be up watching her romcoms instead of...
No, she couldn't think like that, her mom was here and sure the chances weren't great but her mom is strong! one of the strongest women she knows.
"I'll be back later okay?" she said pulling back and smiling at her mom "and I'll bring you back some food."
The brunette was going to be hanging out with a few of her teammates at the state fair today. They had asked her in class yesterday and she decided to be a normal teenager for once and say yes.
"Greasy food my favorite" Josette grinned.
The two heard a honk coming from outside "I think that's the girls, I've got to go but I'll be back soon okay?"
"Yes baby, now go have fun" she swatted her daughter away. Josie gave her one last glance before exiting the apartment and making her way to Jade's car.
When the group arrived at the fair they immediately went to the admission and got their wristbands. Jade ended up paying for Josie's even after the brunette argued with her she ended up giving in.
"What ride should we do first," Maya asked turning to the group.
"The ring of fire" Finch suggested and the girl's shot the idea down.
"Last time I went on that I puked..." Josie said and Jade held her hand.
"Well, that settles that, no ring of fire."
"How about bumper cars?" Maya said and everyone shrugged. Josie hadn't ever been on the bumper cars so she was more than willing to try them out.
They made their way across the fair to the bumper cars where they stood in line with a bunch of other people.
"Oh god is that who I think it is," Maya said nodding her head in the direction behind them.
Josie turned her head and saw Hope, Sebastian, and a bunch of the girl's teammates standing behind them in line.
Oh god.
Jade's face darkened as she saw the auburnette. Josie had a feeling this wasn't going to end well.
"Look who it is" Jade crossed her arms and glared at the girl.
Hope turned toward them and rolled her eyes when she saw who it was "oh hello" she said with a sigh.
"It was fun seeing you lose your game the other day, I haven't had that good of a laugh in a while," the blonde said.
