Chapter 42 - Moving Day

Y/n's POV:

It's moving day! I can't believe it's finally here, three weeks after Scarlett asked us, we're finally doing it. Scarlett arrived home yesterday and came over pretty much straight away and helped to box the last of Ava's things. We all ended up having an early night ready for the mayhem that was coming.

When we wake up, the three of us are so excited. There is no food in the kitchen, but as if she could read our minds, Sophie turns up at the door with breakfast muffins. "I thought as I can't help with the actual move today, I could provide the sustenance that you all need before I have to head to work." She greets us and we're all so grateful for the fresh food.

When we've finished up our food, Sophie says goodbye and has one look around the apartment. "I'm going to miss this place." She says, turning to me. "Yeah, me too." I share. We give each other a big hug and she steps away looking at me. "I'll still be showing up unannounced at Scarlett's place. I hope you're ready for that!" Sophie jokes turning to Scarlett. "Our place." Scarlett corrects her and gives her a big grin.

"Have fun with that without a key!" I smirk at Sophie but she just gives me a mischievous smile back. Uh oh. "Yeah, Scarlett's already sorted me out on that front!" She responds quickly, grabbing a key out of her pocket and wiggling it in the air. My head shots around to Scarlett who has an apologetic smile on her face. "You did what? We're never going to get rid of her now!" I jokingly moan and Scarlett shrugs. "I'm sorry babe, I wanted her to still know she can come over when she likes." Scarlett defends.

I rest my hands on Scarlett's shoulders and pull her into a hug. "You know we're going to have to adopt her now. She's going to be around here all the time. Especially considering there's a pool." I joke and she laughs. "You're stuck with me sis!" Sophie replies with a big grin, giving my shoulder a little punch.

Whilst we wait for Robert to turn up, we double check all the boxes are labelled and we start to move them towards the door so we can pack up the van when we're back. It's not long until Robert saunters into the apartment, making his usual dramatic entrance. "Grampa Robert!" Ava shouts, running over to greet him. "Hi Princess. You excited to go to your new home?" He asks and she nods enthusiastically.

He greets Scarlett and I but we are quickly being ushered out of the door. "Hurry up! The quicker you get the van, the quicker we can start moving!" Scarlett insists, pretty much pushing us through the doorway. "Do I not get a kiss goodbye?" I pout and she drops her hands from my back. "Always." She responds, puckering up her lips and giving me a kiss.

I chuckle when she pushes at my chest to get me to leave. "You're going to give me a complex you know." I tease and she rolls her eyes. "You'll get more of those when you're back!" She offers and I accept, dragging Robert towards the lift.

We take the Mustang to the van rental, rolling the windows down and enjoying the journey on the strangely quiet roads. "So, you're finally taking the big step. You must be excited." Robert states, turning in his seat to look at me. I've not been able to keep the smile off my face all morning. "I can't wait for us to be living together. To wake up every morning to her beautiful face and to know that Ava is in a home where she is so loved." I share easily and he smiles.

"It's sickening how in love you are." He teases. "But I'm proud of you. I've watched you over the last year grow so much. I've seen you being an incredible mom, but also making sure that you have some happiness too. Who knew that a British Solider and her daughter could come into our lives and turn them upside down. I'm glad that I get to witness it all." He gushes and it makes me blush. "I don't think you realise how much Ava and I's happiness is down to the fact we have you all in our lives. You have really taken us in and support us so much. I've never had someone like you in my life and I couldn't imagine it without you." I reply easily.
