After school that day, Holly and Henry decided to hang out at his house. In the siren's wake, Henry and Holly et up at the front gate before making their way to Henry's. It was around a 10, maybe 20 minute walk, so the pair had plenty of time to talk. Henry took this time to just make small talk with her. He didn't really see the point in having any private conversations in public. Somebody could easily hear them in passing.
The both of them walked up Henry's driveway until they were standing in front of a large, nondescript door. Henry stepped in front of Holly, his keys jingling melodically as he unlocked the door, allowing both of them to enter the house. Henry guided her to the living room before excusing himself to go to the bathroom. Holly grabbed the remote, turning on the TV so she could scroll through possible movies they could watch. At that point, Holly was really in the mood to watch a romance film -talk about living vicariously through a screen-, but his TV guide only seemed to have country shows and movies mixed with a few comedy ones too. She wasn't complaining though. She actually came across one of her favourite Adam Sandler movies: 50 First Dates. As she was starting the movie, Henry walked back out into the living area, greeting Holly yet again. He took note of Holly's movie selection and his eyes widened. "You like Adam Sandler?!" He questioned, a tinge of awe incorporated into his tone.
Holly looked at him, nodding her head. "Yeah, of course! I mean who doesn't like Adam Sandler?" Holly replied, turning herself to face him. Henry didn't notice at first, but seeing that she liked the same things he did made him blush slightly. "You want anything to eat or drink? We've got chocolate, chips and shit like that." Holly did in fact want some, but she was too shy to take him up on his offer. She shook her head politely. Henry stood there for a second. Did she think that he was that oblivious? He playfully rolled his eyes. "Well, suit yourself, but I'm getting some anyways. If you change your mind there will be stuff for you on the couch." Holly's heart skipped what felt like a thousand beats. She knew that in that moment he saw right through her, and in all honesty, she kinda liked it. She liked that he had somewhat of a sixth sense. Toby didn't have that.
She waited for Henry to sit himself back down to resume the movie, and he was very thankful for that. Even though the extreme weather had subsided, it was still very very cold. Holly made the mistake of not wearing a jacket that day -she didn't expect it to be too cold that day- so she sat there, shivering just a little bit. Holly refused to tell Henry, as she didn't want to come off as entitled and bossy, so she just sat there, trying her best to endure it. Within a few minutes, she felt two arms wrap around her and pull her close. She turned around, confused but not repulsed. He looked down at her as if it was obvious as to why he was holding her. "I saw you shivering, dumbass." He teased, pulling her even closer. Holly laughed lightly before turning back to the movie, settling into his arms nicely.
Henry did the same thing he always did when she was in her arms ; he stroked her hair and gave her soft forehead kisses every now and then. Holly didn't protest, in fact, she quite liked it. They lay there in silence through the duration of the movie -apart from the occasional comment of course-. Once the movie had finished, Henry grabbed the remote. "Anything else you wanna watch?" He questioned. Holly reluctantly released herself from his grasp and turned to face him. "Actually.." She started as she anxiously played with her hands. "There's something I need to talk to you about.. I wasn't going to tell you at first because I didn't want to anger or worry you, but it's getting to point where I can't deal with it anymore." Henry's eyes widened in worry. "Are you okay? Did someone hurt you?" He pressed, wanting to comfort her. She shook her head."No, nothing like that." She reassured before continuing. "It's Taylor." Henry's eyes subconsciously rolled at the mere mention of her name. After the whole situation the other week, Henry's view on the pink haired girl had been tainted. "What about her? Did she try and fight you again today?" Holly looked up at him, shaking her head yet again. This made Henry even more confused. "Then what's it about?" Holly hesitantly looked up at him again, debating whether or not she should bow out and change the subject when he interrupted.
"If this is about Taylor hating me, I already know." Holly's eyes widened. "You.. you do?" She asked, unable to disguise her surprise. He nodded. "Yeah, I've known for a while. She doesn't exactly try to hide it. I also know she doesn't like Toby." Holly sat there, attempting to process the new information. "If he already knows that Taylor didn't like the two boys, does that mean that he also knows why Taylor is so mean to me?" Holly pondered. She felt so uncertain in that moment. Even though she hated the idea, she knew she had to tell him. She went quiet again, trying to figure out how to say what she needed to say. Henry fell into silence, waiting for her to speak. "Okay so.. Taylor doesn't like me anymore because-" Holly began to stutter. "She doesn't like me because I hang out with you guys." Henry's neutral silence turned into an angry one. His eyes widened with disbelief. "Are you fucking kidding me?" Holly immediately regretted bringing it up. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you mad. I shouldn't have said anything." She out her head in her hands, shifting into a melancholy mood.
Henry put his hands softly around her wrists, moving them away from her now tear stained face. "No. None of this is your fault." He reassured, still holding her wrists. Holly looked up at him. "But I didn't tell you." Henry rolled his eyes. "So? You didn't tell me because you didn't want my feelings hurt. I'm not mad at you. In fact, I'm not even upset that she doesn't like me, I'm mad because she let her hatred for both Toby and I affect your friendship. It's bullshit." Holly sniffled. Henry released her hands and pulled her close to him, embracing her tenderly. Holly looked up at him, her eyes still glistening from the tears that fell from her eyes. "Thanks." She whispered. He looked down at her, slightly discombobulated. "For what?" It took only a few seconds for Holly to fill the silence. "For not hating me." He replied almost instantly. "Holly, I could never hate you."
Holly hadn't really realised until now, but he had a certain twinkle in his eyes. It was almost bewitching. The two sat there on the couch, staring into each other's eyes, their hearts racing a million times a minute. They both subconsciously leaned in further and further, until their lips met. He lifted his hands, running them through her long, blonde hair as she wrapped her hands around his neck. He pulled away fro a second, analysing her face. "You are so fucking beautiful, Holly." He whispered longingly as he softly brushed his thumb across her lower lip before kissing her soft, rose tinted lips again. The kiss lasted what felt like an eternity, and it felt so unreal. In this moment, they realised, heaven really was a place on earth.
