Holly turned her attention back to the envelope, and looked inside. She half expected Toby's little note about the concert to be a joke, but upon further inspection, she was proved wrong.
When she pried into the envelope a little more, she noticed a small, white strip of card like paper sitting at the bottom. Again, she thought it would just be a card that had sone sort of ridiculing message on nit, but she chose to entertain what she thought was a funny little joke being played on her.
She grasped the ticket and pulled it out so she could read what was embedded on it. Her suspicions of this being one big joke were crushed as she read the print.
"Luke Combs World Tour:"
Before she could read the rest of what was on the ticket, she almost fainted. Luke Combs was one of her favourite artists besides Midland, and now she was going to his concert?!
She stood there in silence, holding the ticket in her hand. She wasn't doing much, she just kinda stared at it as if she blinked, or diverted her gaze from it for even a split second it would disappear.
Her father seemed to notice this, so he snapped his fingers in front of her face a few times. "Holly? Holly, are you okay?" Her Dad fussed, trying to shake her out of her trance. A few seconds after, she came to, and she met her Dad's gaze. "What happened, Holly?" Even though she was out of her trance like state, she still struggled to find the words to tell her Dad, so she took a moment.
"Toby.. Henry.. Luke Combs... Tickets." She mumbled, handing her father the ticket so that he could make more sense of the situation. He scanned the ticket for a few second before looking back to Holly. "Luke Combs? Isn't this one of those country music making dudes you love?" He asked, giving the ticket back to his daughter.
Holly nodded violently, her frozen exterior had now faded away and she was now allowing her excitement to seep through the cracks and overwhelm her. She couldn't believe it, she was going to see Luke Combs in concert with the two boys she wanted to see him with.
Almost immediately, Holly grabbed her phone and ran up to her room, calling Tianah as she did so. Before she could even greet Holly she was cut off. "Do you remember that Luke Combs concert I was telling you about the other week?" Holly questioned, rushing into her room. Tianah went silent for a moment. "The one you can't go to because tickets sold out?" She replied, concern evident in her voice. "Yeah, except this time I can actually go now!! Toby bought tickets for me, Henry and himself and we're all going together!" She enthused, squealing a little.
"Ouu, I'm so happy for you! Send me a pic when you get your outfit. You better give me the country girl realness I deserve." She chuckled softly. "Anyways, I hate to cut this conversation short, but I have to go. Things aren't great with mum right now and I don't want to give her something else to be mad at me about. Goodnight, ily." Tianah spoke before hanging up the phone.
Holly held the phone to her chest, sighing deeply. She was still in a state of disbelief. She decided to send Toby a text.
H: "Hey, I just want to thank you so much for the tickets!! You didn't have to do that for me."
He saw the message almost immediately.
T: "It's all goods Holly. You deserve it, especially after the whole lying about inviting Henry to my station fiasco. I take it you're coming?"
H: "Are you fucking kidding?! Of course I am! I wouldn't miss it for the world.
T: "I'm so glad, now it's getting late, you should get some sleep okay?"
Holly smiled at the text. She liked that he cared so much about her.
H: "Okay, goodnight :) Sleep well."
Holly locked her phone as she walked into her bathroom to get ready for bed. She put her phone down as she hopped in the shower.
Around 20 minuted later she got out of the shower. Her hair was saturated and the mat beneath her was coated with water. She walked over to the counter, picking up her phone so she could check her messages. There was nothing really interesting, just instagram and snapchat notifications, game update notices and such. She locked her phone yet again as she proceeded to dry her hair and get dressed into something more comfortable.
She went downstairs to say goodnight to her Dad, who was sitting on the couch watching a movie. He stood up, pulling his daughter into a tight hug. "Sleep well, okay slugger?" He whispered, placing a kiss on her forehead. "If you need anything, you know where to find me." He reassured before sending her off. She turned around for a second, nodding her head and giving him one last hug before running up to bed.
She slipped into her bed, opening her phone once again to set her alarm for school the next morning, when she noticed she'd gotten a text from Ryan.
R:"Tonight was fun, wanna sneak out and go get something to eat from one of those shitty servos?"
Holly had never snuck out before, but she had always wanted to do it just once. She knew she was probably making a bad decision, but she knew it was something she'd worry about later. She texted him back.
H: "Sure. Meet me at my house in 10."
