Toby stood there, unsure of what to say. To him it seemed as if the words he had wanted to say were forcefully ripped from his throat. His hands started to sweat a little as his gaze shifted around the room, refusing to focus on any of the two, angry men that stood in front of him. For once in his life, Henry didn't remain neutral. However, it wasn't because Toby hadn't invited him, he couldn't care less about that. Toby had obviously hurt Holly, and Henry wanted to do something about it.
The tall, blonde boy stepped towards Toby, his eyes narrowing as he looked him up and down, almost as if he was sizing up his prey. Holly's dad remained seated, and he refused to say anything. After Henry stepped towards Toby, he saw it as a cue to leave.
Henry's eyes appeared cold and dangerous. Almost as if one wrong word could put you 6 feet under. He broke the silence by speaking in a very low register. "What did you do to her?" Henry intimidated. "Nothing!" Toby defended, putting his hands up as if he was surrendering. "If you really did nothing to her, then why the fuck is she upstairs crying in her room?" Henry queried, gesturing towards the second floor. Toby looked to where Henry's hand was pointing. His face fell. "It's more complicated than it sounds, Henry. I'll fix it okay? Just back the fuck off!"
Henry seemed unsatisfied with Toby's retaliation, however he knew he wouldn't exactly be able to force anything out of him, so he stepped down. "Good."
The boys both shared an approving nod before deciding they should both leave and go back to their respective homes.
~time skip a few days~
A few days had passed since the incident, and Holly still wasn't answering Toby's texts. She'd see him in passing at school, but she tried her best to avoid looking at or talking to him. She even resorted to hanging out with Tianah and Emily on class breaks instead. The three were making small talk when Emily excused herself. "I'll be back in a second, I'm just going to go and get something from the canteen." Emily grabbed her phone and walked off into the distance.
Tianah took this time to shuffle closer to Holly. "So how come you're hanging out with us all of a sudden?" Holly looked at her, confusion evident on her face. Tianah noticed this. "Oh, I didn't mean anything by it, I just meant you usually hang out with Toby and Henry, so the sudden change in scenery is just a little conspicuous." She clarified, her eyes widening with guilt.
"Oh no I figured that was what you were asking. It's honestly just a bunch of drama that went on and it's just really stressing me." Tianah looked at her with a softened expression. "You know you can talk to me about anything, Holly." Holly contemplated for a moment while she was deciding whether or not she was going to tell Tianah.
"So don't tell anyone this, but, when me and Toby were at the rodeo, we uh... slept together." The second Tianah heard those words escape Holly's lips, she gasped. "Are you fucking kidding me?!" She squealed as she lifted her hand to cover her mouth. Holly shushed her. Tianah complied, and restarted her freak out in a more cooled down tone. "YOU SLEPT WITH TOBY?!?!" She violently whispered as she smacked Holly's leg. Holly grasped Tianah's wrists and restrained her. "Yes, yes, now be quiet, I don't think the rest of the school heard you." She teased. Tianah looked to her again, nodding her head as she mimed herself zipping her lips.
After around 15 minutes after Emily had reacquainted herself with the duo, Henry came around looking for Holly. "Hey girls." He greeted before turning to Holly. "Hey, I just wanted to make sure you're feeling okay today. I haven't heard from you like at all." Tianah and Emily made a mocking 'awh' sound and started making kissy faces at them. Holly gave them a disapproving nod and motioned a cut throat like gesture before turning her attention back to Henry. "Yeah, I'm okay today, just need a break from.. well, you know." Henry nodded, indicating that he understood her predicament. "Nah, I get you. I'm here if you need me. I'll text you after school."
~time skip to last period~
Holly sighed with relief as she walked into her last period classroom. She was just thankful she made it through the day without any drama. She sat at her usual desk and looked on as the bustling students settled themselves down. Toby was in this class, but he didn't sit next to her, so she assumed everything would be fine. After around 30 minutes, Holly had a note passed to her.
"Holly, I know you're mad at me, but I promise I can explain. Meet me at Altone Park after school.
~ Toby "
Holly looked at the what was previously a crumpled up note and sighed, rolling her eyes. She was so mad at him, even the thought of looking at his face made her want to cry. She kept studying the note before she came to a conclusion. She was going to go, except this wasn't going to be his moment, it was going to be hers. She was going to let him have it.
