When You Start Drifting Apart

Dan:

You had tons of work to do ever since a new intern came, and his name was Kyle. You had to show him everything, about everything.

This took a lot of time. It probably would've been easier if your coworker hadn't gotten fired!

Dan also went back to his flat, making the situation even worse. Everyday you went home, you were all alone.

It was one week later when you weren't tired enough to call someone. You decided to call Dan.

The phone rang.

Rang.

Rang.

Rang

It went to voicemail. You hanged up and tried again. Nothing.

You waited a few minutes to see if he would call you back, but an hour later, and nothing.

You texted him.
You: Dan why aren't u answering?? xx

It was fifteen minutes later.

Dan: srry Princess was taking a nap

You: Oh ok. Want to do somethin tomorrow im off.

Dan: already have plans can't :'( maybe on Friday

You: I have to work I'm only off thursday and monday.

Dan: Have plans then too. Sorry.

You: it's fine.

There was no reply after that. You sighed as you made yourself dinner.
Dan usually isn't so busy. You thought. What could he possibly have plans that big for? Maybe just redecorating around his living room.

You decided to go with that idea. After you ate dinner, you decided to text Dan one last time.
What r the plans you have?

You took a shower. No text. You went to bed. No text in the morning.

No text until 5 days later.
Nothing much.

Usually, Dan would have called to check on you every day.

Something was going on, but you didn't know what.

But you intended to find out.

Phil

Recently, Phil moved back to his flat. You were volunteering at an animal shelter.

But you still should've had time to spend with Phil! Phil said he was redecorating the living room, and it was taking longer than expected.

You told him not to worry about it. That was 2 weeks ago, when you last heard from him.

You finally decided enough was enough and you surprise visited him.

"Ta-da!" You smiled when he opened the door. He looked so surprised to see you.

"Y/N! Hi!" He rubbed the back of his neck akwardly.

Your smile slowly disappeared. "Aren't you happy to see me?" You asked, a hurt expression on your face.

"Yes! Yes of course! It's just... really tired." He stretched and yawned. You nodded understandingly.

"Can I come in?"

"O-Oh! Yes! Of course!" He let you come inside. "I'll be right with you. I just need to do one quick thing." Phil ran to his room.

You looked around the almost-finished living room. Dan and Phil did a nice job.

It smelled like warm vanilla cookies. It went well with the living room theme, which was just light brown and cream.

Phil came back with diffrent clothes on.

"I slipped in some mud today." He explained. You motioned for him to sit down next to you.

Phil did.

"It smells nice." You complimented him. He winced, but smiled. "Thanks. You like it?" He motioned towards the room. You nodded.

You spent an hour over there until you had to volunteer again.

You didn't hear from Phil again for a week.
