"So, when you supposed to be leaving?" Momma asked as I ate the bowl of cereal she made me.
"Bri and the twins coming to pick me up. She on the way now." I told her, pushing up my glasses that I chose to wear today.
"That reminds me, bring me your contacts so I can get them refilled. I forgot you said you was out." Momma reminded me and I nodded.
I was about to say something else until Kayden walked in the kitchen, cheesing mad hard.
He looked around the room then stopped and frowned as he looked at me and momma. He walked further in the kitchen and looked at us weird.
"You ain't make breakfast?" He asked her and she frowned at him.
"No...did you want me to?" She slowly asked, looking at him weirdly.
"What do you mean, momma? You always do." Kayden said, coming to sit beside me at the island.
"I always do when you guys have school. But you don't so I'm not cooking." She shrugged as I scrolled on Instagram on my phone.
Kayden looked between me and momma and looked like he was starting to get pissed.
"Do y'all got anything to say to me...?" He asked, trailing off.
"Baby, are you feeling okay? You acting weird." Momma asked him and he sucked his teeth as she felt his forehead.
I heard the front door shut and footsteps in the hallway before Brisa appeared in the doorway to the kitchen.
I saw Kayden's face light up at the sight of her and I know she saw it too because before he could say anything or get up and go to her, she looked at me.
"You ready to go, Mel?" She asked, holding her keys and phone in one hand.
"Where y'all going?" Kayden asked, furrowing his brows.
"To the mall and so I can do Lolo's hair. It's not like we doing nothing else today." Brisa shrugged, subtly scratching her arm and me and momma was tryna hold in our laughs.
"Riri, I know you fu- freaking lying." Kayden mugged her and she looked at him confused.
"I'm not...? Mel asked me to do her hair today so I am. You ready to go, though? Di in the car and you know how she get." Brisa said and gave me a knowing look.
"Yeah, I'm coming." I told her and got up, taking my bowl to the sink.
"Ima wash it, baby. Just go." She told me and I nodded, kissing her cheek.
"Bye momma. Bye Kayden." I waved, walking out the kitchen.
"Shut up talking to me." Kayden said and I quietly laughed as I left the house.
