I was curled up on the couch, my bonnet on and under my favorite comfort blanket from when I was a kid.

The gang was all here and so was my aunts and uncles. I don't know why momma called everyone over here when I said I had to tell them something.

"What happened, Lolo?" Tt Aspen asked as I sniffed and adjusted my glasses.

"Yeah, it seemed kinda urgent, baby. You okay?" Momma asked and I avoided everyone's stares.

"No, not really." I mumbled and they gave me a confused look.

"What happened?" Daddy asked and I sighed.

"Um...I met my biological father today." I said and everyone went completely silent.

I looked up and they were staring at me in shock.

Momma looked shocked with a mix of worry and so did Daddy. My aunts and uncles looked a little bit surprised and all my friends more so looked like they were worried about how I was feeling.

"How did you um- how did you meet him?" Momma asked, leaning against the back of the couch as Daddy crossed his arms.

"Through Melani's aunt." I said and everyone looked confused except Jace.

"How did she introduce you to your dad?" Tt Rosa asked and I saw Daddy mumble something as she called him my dad.

"Well, that's the funny thing- my dad is actually her brother and Melani is actually my little sister." I said and Jace sat up.

"I knew it. Y'all looked way too much alike to just be friends. You barely even been around each other that long." Jace said and stuck both hands out. "All y'all owe me $20."

"You bet on Lani being my sister?" I scrunched up my face as everyone was rolling their eyes and handing him $20.

"Hell yea because I knew I was gone get my money." He said before momma hit the back of his head.

"Watch your mouth." She frowned.

"Sorry Tt." He said, rubbing his head.

"But I feel like deep down, I always felt this sort of connection to Lani ever since I first met her. Like, I felt like I had to take care of her and look out for her and all that big sister stuff." I explained and they slowly nodded.

"You straight though?" I heard Jaxon ask beside me and I turned to him.

"I mean, kind of. I just met my biological dad but there is still something I haven't told you guys." I frowned, rubbing my arm and getting further under the blanket.

"What is it?" Diara asked, looking concerned.

I started fiddling with a loose thread on my blanket. This was still a hard subject for me and I felt sad just thinking about it.
