"Guess who's back?" Melody sang as she walked through the door into her mother's hospital room with three bags on her arms.
She was met with her mother sitting up on the bed with her father sitting in the chair next to her bed. Melani was sitting on the couch, scrolling on her phone.
"Mel!" Melani jumped up, leaving her phone on the couch as she went to hug her older sister who she hadn't seen in a week.
Melody hugged her younger sister, reminiscing the feeling as she hadn't seen her family in a week.
Melody had been trying to see them as much as she could, being that she went 18 years without knowing her biological family. She wanted to at least start to make an effort to have them in her life.
She let go of the hug and placed her bags down on the couch as Melani took her seat back.
She walked over and hugged her father before leaning down and hugging her mother, giving her a kiss on the cheek.
"Did you have fun baby?" Kiela asked her daughter, wanting to know about her trip.
"Yeah, I'm glad we got to go. This was our first time ever celebrating my best friend's birthday like this." Melody grinned as Lani moved to sit at the end of her mothers hospital bed. "What y'all been up to?"
"Nothing really." Lani shrugged, trying not to seem too curious about what was in the bags her sister brought.
Melody walked over and picked up the bags again before going back over to the bed. She handed one bag to one of the other people in the room.
"What's this?" Her father asked and she smiled, pushing her glasses up.
"I never come back for vacation without getting my family something." Melody answered and she didn't miss the smiles on her parents faces as she called them her family. "Open them."
They all gave Melody a look before opening their bags. She had gotten her father a nice watch she had saw at the mall that made her think of him and got the day they met engraved on the band.
She got her mother a cuban link bracelet with charms that had each of their birthstones on it. Kiela felt herself tearing up at the thoughtful gift.
Melody had gotten Melani a white gold necklace that had a little heart with a picture inside. Once you opened it, you could see a picture that Melody, her mother, and Melani had taken before Melody left for her trip.
"How you get this made in the Bahamas? This seems like it would've taken longer than a few days." Melani asked, grinning at how great the gift was.
"I ordered it the day we took it. I was gonna get you one too mommy but I wanted to get you something else." Melody explained.
"Well, I love it either way. Thank you, Lo." Kiela thanked her, admiring the small bracelet that she had Leon help her put on her wrist.
"You're welcome." She said, side hugging her mother.
