"I miss when we were just college students and waiting to graduate." Vita said as she laid in her bed with her best friends.
"What's wrong, V?" Aspen asked her, rubbing her arm as she sat behind Brisa who was laying on her side.
"Yeah, is it because of the kids?" Rosa asked, looking at her best friend.
"Don't get me wrong- I love my kids more than anything on this earth but it hurts because I feel like I'm failing as a mother." Vita voiced, making her friends look at her with sympathy.
"Don't say that, V. Your an amazing mom." Aspen told her, brushing her hair out of her face. "Kayden adores you and Melody loves her momma so much. Remember when Kayden used to sit on your hip 24/7, yelling mama no matter how mad Luka got."
Vita quietly laughed, remembering how attached her and Kayden were when he was born. For some reason, he slowly grew to not be as clingy around the time he was 4 and Melody was 3.
"But look at him now. My baby only goes to school and comes home and stays in his room 24/7 now. He's eating less and doesn't even go to basketball practice anymore. Kayden loves basketball." Vita explained and Aspen and Rosa frowned. "And I feel like I basically encouraged Melody running away from her problems because she's having so much fun with my brother in North Carolina but that doesn't change all that shit that's happening here and she has to come back eventually."
Rosa frowned and sat up straighter. She hated how much her friend was doubting herself and she wanted Vita to know that she was an amazing person and mother.
"Vita, they're teenagers. They're growing up and all this stuff happens. Kayden is heartbroken and he probably just needs his momma right now. He doesn't know how to deal with the fact that him and the girl he's in love with aren't together no more. And Melody knows that she has to face her problems but going with Vince is a stress reliever for her. Something worse probably would've happened if she had stayed in this toxic environment rather than her being able to actually breathe and not stress down in Charlotte." Rosa ranted and Aspen got a little shocked.
Rosa was never the friend to get on the other two or give them advice like that. Rosa was more so the person to cry on while she told you everything was going to be okay so this shocked them both.
"But look at Brisa. That girl has fallen into a depression and I feel like she feels that she can't come to me with whatever has been getting to her." Vita added, feeling tears fall down her cheeks.
"Now, I'm definitely not gone sit here and let you beat yourself up over Brisa. Brisa has been going through so much shit since she's been a kid. Her daddy ain't shit and ain't never gone be shit. He put her through so much and Brisa is in that mindset that she has to be there for herself because she can't be too sure that nobody else will be. We can be there for her to the end of the world and back but that's just how her mind works. Don't beat yourself up over it because she has an amazing support system and she knows it but you have to give her time. Just let her know as much as you can that you're here for her and you're not going nowhere." Aspen went off and Vita sniffed.
