"Alright, who can tell me who Christopher Cross is?" asked Mr. Schue.

"Someone kids our age have never heard of and don't care about," said Juniper.

"He discovered America," said Brittany.

"Close," replied Mr. Schue. "He did an iconic chart topper, 'Sailing.'"

"I have a really bad feeling about this lesson," said Kurt.

"Never heard of him. Don't wanna hear about him," agreed Tina.

"Some people think of the term 'easy listening' as a bad thing," continued Mr. Schue. "But I'm gonna let this music speak for itself. You guys love Lady Gaga and the Rolling Stones, and you guys are really good about putting it all out there. But really good music can also be controlled and restrained. It doesn't have to attack an audience. It can let them come to you."

"How can you get caught between the moon and New York City?" asked Finn as he looked at the sheet music Mr. Schue was handing out. "They're like 100 miles apart."

"Mr. Schue, if I may," said Kurt. "I think I speak for all of us when I say that it's not that we don't love the idea of spending a week on this silky-smooth adult contemporary. It's just that, as teens, this isn't the easiest music for us to relate to. However, there is a burgeoning Facebook campaign that has swelled to over five members. The ardent demand? This week, at the fall homecoming assembly, the McKinley High Glee Club perform a number by, wait for it... Miss Britney Spears."

"Yes!" exclaimed Juniper, exchanging an excited look with Artie. "That would be so fun!"

"Spears is fierce, yo," said Artie and Juniper nodded in agreement.

"Sorry, Kurt," said Mr. Schue. "No. I don't think she's a very good role model."

"But, Mr. Schue, we kinda grew up with her," said Rachel.

"She's literally why I wanted to become a performer," added Tina.

"I don't wanna do Britney."

"Why no Britney, Brittany?" asked Kurt.

"Because my name is also Britney Spears," she responded.

"What?" asked Juniper, giving the blonde a confused look.

"What the hell is she talking about?" asked Mercedes.

"My middle name is Susan. My last name is Pierce. That makes me Brittany S. Pierce. Brittany Spierce," explained Brittany. "I've lived my entire life in Britney Spears' shadow. I will never be as talented or as famous. I hope you'll all respect that I want Glee Club to remain a place where I, Brittany S. Pierce, can escape the torment of Britney Spears."

"Well, there you have it, guys. No Britney," said Mr. Schue.

"Thanks, Britt. Thanks a lot," said Kurt.

"Leave Brittany alone," said Santana, placing a hand on her friend's back and giving her a small smile.

"Thank you for understanding," said Brittany. "It's been a hard road."

"Can we move on?" asked Rachel.

"Yes," replied Mr. Schue. "Let's talk about Michael Bolton."

The next day, a dentist named Carl came to talk to the Glee Club. Juniper was sitting next to Santana, her head resting on the older girl's shoulder.

"All right, here's the deal," said Carl, holding up a small package with a blue capsule in it. "You chew this little capsule and if there's any plaque you missed, the dye will stick to it and turn your teeth blue."
