"Welcome everyone to our very first Glee Club rehearsal," said Rachel, and everyone clapped. "First, I would like to welcome back our distinguished alumni who have so graciously agreed to stay an extra week. So, thank you, thank you, thank you."
"How exactly are you guys doing that?" asked Jane.
"I can bend time and space with my mind," said Brittany.
"Okay, so as you very well have heard, the Glee Club has a grand and glorious tradition of starting each week with a lesson where we explore every musical genre under the sun," said Rachel.
"But mostly Katy Perry and show tunes," said Quinn.
"Not this week," said Kurt. "Rachel and I are extremely excited to kick off this week's lesson with our-"
"Our first musical lesson, Jagged Little Tapestry," Rachel interrupted, pushing the whiteboard to reveal the words written on the board behind it with a bunch of stars.
"Oh, look, finally some songs about Rachel's hair extensions," Santana said as she turned to Juniper, who chuckled a little.
"Now, as you can clearly see, we've combined the titles of these two iconic albums-"
"Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill," Kurt interrupted.
"Which is celebrating its 20th year anniversary," Rachel added.
"And Carole King's Tapestry. That's my favorite."
"So these two iconic albums are sort of like chocolate and peanut butter-"
"Or peanut butter and jelly."
"Okay, they're both different but amazing," said Rachel. "You know, you could say they're sort of the Reese's Pieces of music."
"I prefer M&M's," Juniper mumbled.
"Or if you don't like Reese's Pieces you could name the other candy of your choice like Juniper," said Kurt.
"Okay, Kurt, why don't you now..." said Rachel.
"Well, Carole King's Tapestry is, you know, it's easy and informal, like getting a cup of coffee with an old friend."
"Team Carole," the McCarthy twins said in unison, fist bumping.
"Can we get coffee after this?" Juniper asked, looking up at Santana.
"Of course we can, babygirl," the Latina cooed, gently touching the girl's cheek and rubbing it with the pad of her thumb before wrapping an arm around her. Juniper rested her head on Santana's shoulder as she turned her attention back to the front of the room.
"Alanis is different," said Rachel. "She's edgy and dark."
"Angry," Kurt interjected.
"Team Alanis," said Tina, high-fiving Jane and Roderick.
"And this is why we wanted it to be your first lesson," said Kurt. "Because like Alanis and Carole, you can look at every situation from two different points of view. It's about combining-"
"What Kurt is trying to say is that it's about working together, using this lesson to grow as a team," Rachel interrupted.
"I'm sorry, I'm confused," said Jane. "What is it exactly you want us to do?"
"Just sit in the back and smile like Juni and I did for four years," said Tina.
"It's actually quite therapeutic," said Juniper, sharing a smile across the room with her friend. "We weren't involved in any of the solo drama, so we got to laugh at these idiots as they turned it into show choir Hunger Games."
