"♪Take my hand, we'll make it I swear♪" Dad sang out to me, holding his hand out for me to take, and I grab it.
"♪Woah, livin' on a prayer♪." I sing the next part of the lyrics. He twirls me around in our kitchen, laughing and smiling together. We're making breakfast together before we head out to Diagon Alley to get my Hogwarts gear, and having a blast. He loves muggle rock music, and this is my favorite genre too.
The song is playing on a music player we have. We have electricity in our little cottage, mostly because it came with it when we moved in. Thankfully though, that means we can enjoy things like muggle music and movies together in our home, though we prefer to see the movies on the big screens. Dad calls it our little dates together. As for the music, Dad is often singing the rock ballads loudly whenever he's cooking. He's a good singer too, so it's great to hear. I'm actually not bad in this life, my voice has a nice clear quality and tone to it.
"Are you excited to get your things today? My big princess getting her wand today." Dad says in mockery, placing his hand dramatically over his heart. He's a big ham, and loves to eat up these moments.
"Yes," I playfully place the back of my hand to my forehead, matching his energy. "Next thing you know, I shall have my own motorcycle, and a dragon tattoo, and group of handsome boys all fawning over me. This Princess will become a Queen! All shall love me and despair!" I quote out Lord of the Rings to him, which goes over his head because the movies don't exist yet. He instead looks at me in despair anyway.
"No, wait, that could all actually happen." He quickly scrambles around, grabbing my shoulders "Don't do that, stay small please, tiny and innocent. Always be my little princess." He wraps me up in a bear hug while he panics.
"Dad, please, I'll always be your princess, but let's not pretend I was ever innocent. I am your daughter." I grin up at him, and he grumbles some more while he releases me and goes back to the stove.
"Abigail, stop tormenting your father." Remus says dryly from the breakfast table. "He's realizing that all the things he did in Hogwarts, you will likely also do. A beautiful master prankster, a second generation of Marauders, especially off with the twins." He adds in, and at each statement, Dad crumbles more, looking like an arrow was shot into him at each realization. Remus smirks at me, knowing exactly what he's doing to his friend. "Don't worry so much, Paddy. I'm sure little Abigail will be a complete angel while she's there."
"Lucifer was an angel." I chime in, and Dad looks like his whole soul left his body.
"Please stop. I'm going to get so many letters from Minnie, aren't I?" Dad whimpers out.
"Bold of you to assume she'll be a Gryffindor." Remus adds in, and Dad sighs tiredly. I'm definitely all the traits of a Slytherin. Clever, Ambitious, Determined, and Resourceful. However, I have plans around that once I get to Hogwarts. "You'll likely be getting letters from Severus."
"Moony, stop, let me live in my fantasy realm for a bit longer. I won't be able to handle it if Snivellus is writing to me." Dad says pleadingly.
We continue to banter together while we eat breakfast. Remus has a job right now at a herbology farm that some wizards own, and he helps plant and grow some of the herbs that are sold for potions ingredients. They don't know he's a werewolf yet, so it's good for him for now, but we all know it won't last. I hate that about the wizards of this world, very prejudiced about everything, even making it illegal to employ werewolves. It was also a waste of his talents, he's a brilliant and smart wizard, but he's just doing manual labor at the farm. But, it's work, and he's stubborn and prideful doesn't like being cared for entirely by Dad. It's respectable how much he tries and never gives up, I just wish other people could see that too.
