Double Charms the next morning was very challenging, but very interesting. Flitwick is going to be teaching a lot of advanced charms and dueling techniques since that's common practice in 7th year. I took my usual spot with Cedric, who I still haven't talked to like he requested because I was mad yesterday after Umbridge and just got dinner from the kitchens last night.

"Abby, got a minute?" Cedric asks me as the bell rang for lunch after Charms.

"Yes, I actually do. What's up?" I ask cheerily, and he leads us to an empty-ish hallway.

"I've been wanted to apologize, I didn't write this summer like I usually do." He says sincerely.

"To be fair, neither did I. The Ministry was intercepting our letters, and Bruce wasn't liking that at all, so I didn't send him out much this summer." I admit truthfully.

"The Ministry?" He asks in surprise and worry. "Because of Harry? Or are you in danger?"

"Because of Harry, he stays with me most the summer break." I tell him. "So, did you have a good summer then?"

"It was alright, though..." He says nervously. "I just kept thinking about our last.... Moment together before break."

"Oh yes, our kiss." I say simply, and he blushes red and smiles at me. "Well, you're far less bold this time." I smirk at him, which doesn't help his redness now.

"I shouldn't have stolen that kiss. Our first kiss... it should have been more romantic. I should have taken you on a date, and we would have gone out to dinner." He says sheepishly.

"Nah, I feel like that was more 'us'." I smirk again at him. "Me admitting to poisoning you and you getting your life saved. That's more my speed, not Madam Puddifoot's Teahouse of Horror."

"Ah..." He gulps a little. "So I shouldn't ask you out to a date there on our Hogsmeade weekend?"

"Not unless you want to have a date with this." I say, putting an obviously fake smile on my face and straining my neck to further exaggerate it.

"Then how about a walk around the lake this weekend together?" He asks me nervously. I just realized then that he was asking me on a date and I totally just shot him down, so I sheepishly chuckled and internally scolded myself.

"It's a date." I smile softly at him, and I step up taller and place a soft kiss on his cheek. "Thanks for waiting for me." I add with a whisper in his ear.

"Thanks for saying yes." He sighs in relief. "I'll come get you on Saturday then." He grins at me, and I nod and leave then.

Later that day, I walked into Umbridge's office for my detention test. I had to know for sure if she was going to be doing her torture quill or not before I made my final decisions on what to do with her.

"Take a seat, Ms. Black." Umbridge says sweetly as I walk in. "And know that your detention has been extended for every day this week for your offense of leaving my classroom early."

"That's fine, what will I be doing during your detentions?" I ask plainly, no emotions showing on my face.

"Lines, Ms. Black." She says with far too much happiness. I look over and see a quill and a paper, and no ink.

"There's no ink." I point out innocently.

"You will find you won't need any with my quill." She replies with a giggle. "Now, I want you to write 'I must learn my place'."

"How many times?" I smirk inwardly, I had been wondering what she would make me write.

"As many times as it takes for the message to really sink in." She smiles at me and goes to take a seat at her desk as I walk to the open desk.
