'What are you doing here?' Callum Brown asked, as he tiredly walked through the parking lot, training bag lazily slung over his shoulder.'Ginnivan wanted me here to help plead his case, but it's game day, so I can't exactly go in. He really thought it all through' Lotte said sarcastically, rolling her eyes as she checked her watch.
'Plead his case...oh good Christ. What's he done this time?' Callum asked, as Lotte shrugged. 'Destroyed our neighbour's car' she said, as Callum took his bag off and placed it on the ground. 'I gotta hear this one' he said, as he sat down on the bench next to her.
'I don't know what to tell you. He and she have been in the same parking spot fight for the last two months. One of them finally got sick of it and complained to the landlord. Jack was threatened eviction if he didn't start parking his Hilux correctly. He didn't like that, so he picked up a rock and launched it at her windshield and badly damaged her brand new Mercedes. Now he's facing charges, I'm a witness to it, and here we are. He's begging the club not to destroy his current contract. I told him not to do it. Nobody ever listens to me' Lotte explained, sighing as Callum looked at her, wide eyed. 'Sometimes I wonder what fun Gin is up to without us. And then I always regret asking' he said, as John Noble walked over.
'Is Daics here yet?' He asked, shielding his eyes from the sun with a book. 'Which one?' Callum and Lotte asked at the same time.
'Either. Josh. Isaac? The guys I usually walk across with?' John asked, as Callum shook his head. 'I just got here' he said.
'Nick's pulled out of the game, didn't you hear? He's having some sort of crisis and has to sort something out. He won't tell his brother what the problem is, so don't ask me' Lotte said, as both Callum and John looked at her in shock. 'That means you're up, congrats emergency. How do you feel?' Jack Ginnivan asked, suddenly sneaking up behind Callum and putting his arm around his shoulders.
'You know I hate it when you do that! I'm not Trent. I don't like to be scared half to death' Callum whined, playfully shoving Ginni off as the pair laughed like idiots. Lotte uncomfortably sighed as she exchanged a similar look with John.
'Jack, he's not taking Nick's place. He's the medi sub' John said, looking at him like he was stupid. Jack shrugged. 'So then...who is taking Nick's spot? Little Daics hasn't missed a game all season' he said, as Lotte looked down at her phone, another text coming through, from Ashlyn about her baby. She wondered why she hadn't sent her ultrasound photos through yet.
'Gin, Little Daics is Josh. Big Daics is Nick' Callum corrected him, as Gin pushed him over. 'Whatever mate' he said.
'I'm glad to see you're all ready for the game. Out of uniform and no bag' a member of the leadership team said, walking over. Lotte recognised him but didn't know his name.
'I'm not playing, mate. Apparently you and your other three mates have suspended me for three matches' Jack said, still upbeat as he stood up and tried to put his arm around the older footballer's shoulders. 'Get off me' he said, as Jack sadly obliged.
'Three matches? That's all you get?' Lotte asked, disappointed at the leadership team's chosen punishment.
'AND a very large fine which I cannot afford. And a summons to the Heidelberg Magistrates...or was it Broadmeadows? Maybe it was Collingwood' Jack said, drifting off into another world as he tried to remember what the letter from the police said.
'It was Heidelberg' Lotte said, annoyed.
'I wasn't in the meeting mate, but you probably deserved whatever SP, Darce and Taylor gave you' the fourth leadership team member said. 'Josh isn't here' he added, looking down at Lotte.
