Beep Beep. Beep Beep.

A mixture of hope, panic and fear quickly spread around the room and the corridor outside as the woman's eyes slowly, very slowly opened for the first time in weeks.

'Miss Sullivan, can you hear me? Lotte?'

Eyes unmoving, Lotte laid there, like a dead corpse with her eyes open, unstaring.

'Lotte, do you know what year we're in?' Another doctor asked.

No answer came, as Lotte struggled to take in her first, burning breaths, a tube down her throat.

'Twenty...something' Lotte stuttered, through a very dry and broken voice.

'Do you recognise this person?' A female nurse asked, referring to Monique Cripps, who was standing at the foot of the bed, holding a baby in her arms.

'I....don't know' Lotte trailed off, slowly blinking again.

'She probably wouldn't. She only met me when she was dying' Monique clarified.

'Do you know who this lady is holding?' An intern asked. Lotte shook her head. 'Her child' she guessed, a laugh going around the room.

'Any updates?' Someone asked, sticking his head through the door.

'Get out of here, Boyd' Monique said, rolling her eyes.

'Okay, but Chloe will come bursting in next' Jordan joked, leaving the room.

'Miss Sullivan, you've taken quite the fall. Do you know why you're here?' The doctor asked.

Incredibly drugged, Lotte attempted to sit up, but could barely move.

'Did I fall from something?' She asked.

'Not quite. Monique here found you in the empty walls of the MCG when you were in labor' the nurse explained. Monique watched on with a worried look, while Jordan Boyd hovered around the door. 'She's been out to it for weeks. She wouldn't have a clue what's going on' he said. Monique glared at him, shooing him away with her hand.

'Charlotte, you hurt yourself pretty badly when walking around the MCG during a game of football. If Monique here, and her friend hadn't of found you, you wouldn't have made it' a doctor said, talking slowly and clearly. Lotte lowered her eyebrows, blinking. Trying to focus.

'Who...who won?' She asked, very confused. The rest of the room laughed too.

'Priorities' Jordan whispered, laughing.

'Carlton won, but that's not the point. You were in labor and unconscious, and lost a hell of a lot of blood. We had to give you blood transfusions and quite a lot of medication. You're quite the traumatic case' the doctor explained. Lotte, again, blinked, a lone tear rolling down her cheek.

'Are they...they okay?' She asked, trying to breathe, wondering where her twins were. Her eyes closed, brain threatening to fall asleep again at any second. She tried to hang on, to stay awake.

'Well, your daughter is here in Monique's arms, and your son is...'

'With Bella and Zac in the hallway' Jordan said, finishing off the doctor's sentence. He nodded his approval.

'I have a son and a daughter' Lotte said, sounding emotionless as she raised her eyebrows. Monique stepped forward, carrying the latter.

'Layla and Oscar Bianco-Sullivan were born on August 8th, at 5:24pm, here at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Their father has partially filled out their registration forms, Miss Sullivan' an intern suddenly said, interrupting. The doctor nodded.
