...Ashlyn drove the car home in the dark, uncomfortable silence as Lotte silently brooded next to her.
'You know, I don't think it's a bad thing you went to Coburg' Ash said quietly, trying to get some sort of conversation out of her best friend that wasn't a fuck off.
'I don't fit in with the group, that is as clear as day. I'm broke, I'm wearing a guernsey, and I went to public school. You heard them, I don't match Josh' Lotte said, leaning her head against the window as she looked out at High Street. Well, what she could make in the dark anyway.
'I don't fit in with the group either, that's why I don't sit with them. I don't know how the school conversation even came up, but it's really petty and stupid to worry about. And hey, Darcy stood up for you after you stormed out' Ashlyn explained, trying to console Lotte, who shook her head in anger.
'He could have said something while I was still there in earshot. I don't like her, she's horrible.' Lotte said, as her best friend sighed.
'So we all went to grammar schools and you attended a public one. It doesn't matter. Why are you so upset about it? And hey, at least you graduated. WITH a pregnancy! She never graduated at all' Ashlyn said, thinking back to the way the incident, if you could even call it that, had started.
