'Lotte' Ashlyn said, trying to suppress her anger as she climbed down from where she was sitting on the edge of the bed, and walked around to the other side of it.'Yes?' Lotte asked, quickly blinking to try and make herself appear more innocent. She wasn't sure if it was working.
'You have been in here for three days and nights, which means I have also been in here for three days and nights. You still haven't told me what happened. And sucking on that flavourless icy pole isn't a good enough excuse for not talking' Ashlyn said, glaring at her as she put her hands against the bed and quickly stretched her sore back. 'The police also think I'm a joke since you wouldn't tell them the truth' she added.
'It's not flavourless, it tastes like lemonade' Lotte pointed out, ignoring her as Ashlyn sighed and shook her head.
'What am I going to do with you?' She asked sarcastically, as she pretended to poke Lotte's bad knee, that was all wrapped up and even in a brace.
'Go downstairs and get me another icy pole, this one's nearly finished' Lotte said, smirking but trying to hide it. This'll show Ashlyn for embarrassing her in front of Josh and Jack.
'You are not a child' Ashlyn stated, as Lotte shrugged.
'I'm concussed' she said, trying out her new excuse. Ashlyn sighed again.
'The effects of that, besides headaches, ended a day ago. You told me that. Doctors told us that' She said, as Lotte looked over at the door, seeing her boyfriend push it open with his foot. She guessed they were back to normal. It was almost as if the thing in Queensland hadn't happened. He didn't drink in front of her at the restaurant. Ella did, and he'd asked her not to, without even needing Lotte to explain herself or her reasons. And he hadn't left the hospital once either.
Of course, Lotte jumped in with telling Ella she really shouldn't have been drinking alcohol while pregnant. That made Lewis fall over. She hadn't realised he didn't already know.
Nice one, Sullivan. Thanks a lot for that, Ella had said, while Josh tried to help Lewis recover from his very sudden shock.
'Here you go, you finally have your favourite coffee. I got you one too Addison, I wasn't sure how you take yours but I knew I'd cop it if I didn't at least bring you something' Josh explained, as he passed Ash her coffee. She rolled her eyes as she took a sip. 'Is this chai? I don't drink chai!' She complained, as Josh passed Lotte her coffee and kissed her forehead.
'Thanks' she said, feeling pathetic as she put the icy pole wrapper down on the table and took a sip of her hot chai latte too. Good. Perfect. The nurses up there had no clue how to make a decent coffee, she had to send Josh down to the cafe to get a nice one.
'Daicos, this is chai' Ashlyn repeated, pointing to her cup.
'Yes it is, that's what Lotte drinks' Josh replied, having a sip of his own coffee as he sat down in the chair beside his girlfriend. She looked at him, still in a lot of pain. 'I know, babe. You'll feel better soon. Have they given you any more pain medication?' He asked, as she shook her head.
'I don't drink this' Ashlyn said, her long three days and nights finally catching up with her. Both Josh and Lotte could tell by her attitude and tolerance levels. She had absolutely no patience at all today.
'Well here's an idea, go downstairs and get one yourself' Josh said, raising his eyebrows as he challenged the girl. Unlike his brother, he wasn't going to do everything for her. If he had to, he'd deliberately stuff it up to ensure she'd never ask or expect anything again.
'Fine' she said angrily, slamming the cup down on the table as she stormed out of the room and down to the lifts, muttering about how she wished she could get another brother in law. 'Lazy sod' she added into the spiel.
