We're one big family

We walk around the tower.
He shows me everything.
As we walk outside to the platform I say: „Steve, I have a few questions."
„Tell me."
„Were Natasha and I friends?"
„You were very good friends and when I say that I mean it. You were really, really good friends. She got your back and you hers. You went on so many missions together. Natasha was devastated when she found out that you „died". She wasn't over you for 3 almost 4 years."
„I understand that she's disappointed. She looked very happy when she saw me again."
„I think she's happy just to see you again and knowing that you're alive."
„Mhm."
I look at the city.
„You got another one?"
„Am I a Avenger now..? Like for real? I don't know any of you guys and met you like a hour ago."
He laughs a little.
„Yeah, yeah you're officially a Avenger. It doens't matter when you met us, we'll get along."
We stand there and watch the sunset.
„What about Sharon? Who is she?"
„Sharon.. we were a good trio, you saw the picture. She is your cousin."
I don't say anything.
„I know that's all difficult but yeah, she is your cousin. You both worked for Fury. You were a dreamteam until you were gone and she was alone." he says.
„Oh.."
„I'm gonna call her tonight. And tell her what happend.. maybe she'll come here tomorrow."
I look at the sunset.
„It's beautiful."
He says nothing.
„I haven't seen a sunset for so long."
„They're good to watch from here."
„Yes indeed."
The sun went down and it got cold.
„Let's sit inside, I also got some questions for you." Steve says and looks at me.
I nod and we walk inside.

We go to the kitchen.
„Would you like something to drink?"
I sit down at the table.
„What you got?"
„Water, Tea, Limonade, Beer.."
„A beer please."
„I'll bring it, now tell me.. How do your superpowers work?"
He sits down to me and reaches me a bottle.
„Thanks. Uhm well that's a little complicated. I can be invisible whenever I want to, look." I say and disappear. „I am still here, just not visible."
I get visible again.
„And I don't really know how I make people blind or hear their heartbeat, I can't explain it cause they never did."
„Ok and how about combat? Are you good at fighting?" he asks.
„I am a great fighter, I think. I've beaten every enemie of mine."
„We'll see how you fight against the others. I can't tell if you can beat all of them."
„I'll try and success."
He shakes his head and smiles.
„I got another question."
„Go ahead."
„Do you have any trigger words?"
„No I don't."
„Then how-."
„I am a trained assassin that's been brainwashed for six years every morning and evening. I didn't need trigger words. I got told and then I did it, that's why I still remember every death."
„I'm glad cause I've seen what these trigger words can do to a soldier."
„Barnes, right?"
„Yep."
„Mhm."
I take a sip.
„God, this tastes so good. I've missed it."
He smiles slightly.
The mood got a little better.
„How old even are you by now?" Steve asks.
„25." I answer.
„You were 19 years old when you were captured by Hydra? You weren't even a adult!"
„Hydra doesn't care how old you are."
„Neither apperiantly does S.H.I.E.L.D. You were so young..." he says.
I drink.
I can't comment on that, I don't remember.
„You know, you were like a little sister to me. So young and naive. Me and Sharon always wanted to protect you, even tho you've mostly done that yourself. But then you disappeared. Noone knew how. Noone knew why. I was so confused and shocked as I saw you sitting there in Fury's office."
„I wanted to come back sooner, but I couldn't. It was just not possible."
He looks at me.
„I am just so happy that you're alive, doesn't matter if you're the Y/N I know or not. Maybe we can bring your mind back. Bucky also remembered me after 70 years of brainwashing He did it, so you can do it too."
„Maybe.."
„Probably."
We smiled at eachother and drank.
We talked a long time and he showed me some pictures of me, the Avengers, Sharon and him.

Meanwhile it's dark outside.
„Where do I sleep?" I ask.
„Your room is ready tomorrow, so either on the couch or you may sleep in my room."
„If it doesn't bother you, I'd sleep in your room."
„I'll get you some clothes tomorrow too. Luckily noone asked about the bandage on your arm."
„Yeah."
„I think they already like you. At least Sam and Bucky."
„I'm glad."
„Don't worry."
I look at him.
„I haven't heard that in such a long time."
He says nothing.
„We should go to bed, it's late."
„Mhm.."
He stands up and takes the bottles.
„Come on." he says and looks to me. „You okay?"
„Yes, actually. Yes I am okay."
He smiles slightly.
I stand up too.
„Follow me."
I nod and walk to him.

We go to the lift.
„How many Avengers live here?" I ask.
„I don't know to be honest." Steve answers as we walk in. „Some, like Clint or Scott don't live here, they got family. But Natasha, Bucky or me, we actually live here. We don't have another „home" or actual family. Which is fine because we're all one big family."
The lift goes down.
„That's nice."
„Yes it is. You're part of that family too, again."
I smile.
The doors open and we walk through a hallway.
„Here are Bucky's, Natasha's, Wanda's and my room. I think yours will be there." He points at the room next to Bucky's.
„Ok."
He stops at a room and opens it.
„Come in."
He holds the door for me and I walk in.
„Thanks."
I immediately walk to the window.
„The view is amazing."
He closes the door.
„I know, I like it too."
He opens a drawer and gives me some T-Shirts and Shorts.
„They're too small for me, but they should fit you."
„Thank you very much."
„There's a bathroom right to the door, you can change if you want."
I nod and walk into the little bathroom.

I look into the mirrow.
There are so many thoughts in my head.
I wash my face.
Just forget it.
That's a thing I'm good at, besides fighting.
Pull yourself together, Y/N.
I take off that stupid armour and put on a T-Shirt and a Short.
Much better, more comfortable, everything's just perfect.
I look at the armour with disgust.
I wanna leave this all behind, I somehow can't but still.
I'm walking out again.
„Does it fit?"
„Yep." I say and put the armour on a chair.
I walk to the window again.
I stare at the city.
Steve notices it.
„You've lived here before, maybe you remember.."
I don't react to it.
He stands next to me.
„It's late, you need sleep after everything what happend today."
I nod but I can't get my eyes of the lights of the city.
„Just one more minute."
He sighs.
„Ok."
I stare at the lights.
He walks to the bed.
„You're gonna have your own room tomorrow. It's on the same side, then you can watch the city all night long." he says.
„I know." I say and turn around. „I'm looking forward to it."
„Here." he says and puts a blanket on my side of the bed.
„Thanks."
He sits on the bed.
„Now go to sleep Y/N."
I nod and walk to the bed.
„I feel a little dizzy."
„You drank alcohol after a long time again, thats normal."
„If you think so." I say and lay down.
„Just try to sleep, I'll wake you up tomorrow."
„Mhm." I take the blanket and cover myself.
„Sleep well." he says.
„You too, Steve." I turn around and look outside of the window.
After a while I close my eyes and fall asleep.
