The Shadow Sholdier

First week

I spent the afternoon in my room, listening to music and practicing the dancing steps.
Suddenly someone knocks on my door.
„Come in." I say and sit down on my bed, taking off my headphones.
It's Steve.
„Hey."
„Oh hey." I say.
„Do you have a minute?" he asks.
„Sure."
He nods.
„I just wanted to check on you, its been one week since you arrived here. And I just wanted to ask.. how do you feel?"
I look at him, thinking about what to answer.
„I mean you were right, they accepted me like I am now and I.. I think I feel good. There's been some moments of anger or sadness, even an argument, but I think it's going very well." I say.
„That's great to hear and how did the training with Natasha work? Is it going well?"
„Yeah, it's alright. I've practiced and it's also fun."
He smiles.
„To answer your question, yes Bucky was such a ladies man in the 40s." Steve says.
I chuckle.
„I could tell, the way he bragged about it after we danced."
„He was always more confident than me, I mean the time before the war and serum and all that stuff."
I nod.
„Anyways the reason I came by was your suit." he says and looks at me. „You asked Tony about it..?"
„Yeah, I now know how it works."
„Perfect, Natasha and I are gonna start to make a plan in the next few days."
„Okay."
„You two are just continuing with practicing the dance."
I nod again.
„Sharon's gonna come by too the next week."
„Really?" I ask excitedly.
„Yep."
„Yess!"
„We need to talk about some things, but I'm sure that she'll have some time to talk to you."
„I've got another question." I say and look at him.
„What is it?"
„Would you mind telling me more about Peggy?" I ask. „You don't have to, it's just that.. she sounds like a great woman and I want to know more about her."
Steve sighs slightly.
„As I said, you don't hav-."
„No, it's alright, don't worry." he says. „Well what do you wanna know about her?"
„Everything! Okay, well I'd like to know about her during the war."
„She trained us soldiers and eventually was a Agent, but I was already frozen in the ice."
„She made Bucky one of the first S.H.I.E.L.D agents, right?" I ask.
„Yes." he says and smiles.
„Because she thought he was dead.. like me."
I look outside the window as Steve continues to tell me about Peggy.

Eventually he left because Natasha called him. I put on my headphones and started to practice the dancing steps again, but after some time I sat down on my bed again and looked outside. The sun is setting right now.
Suddenly someone knocks on my door.
„Yeah?" I ask and turn around to the door.
„It's Bucky, can I come in?"
„Sure." I say and take my headphones off.
He walks in and closes the door behind him.
„What are you doing?" he asks as he walks up to me.
„Just watching the sunset." I answer and look outside again.
„May I sit down?"
I nod and he sits down next to me.
We sit in silence.
After some time I speak up.
„Steve assured me that you were a ‚womanizer' and how confident you were in the 40s." I say and smile as I look at him.
„How many girls did you have a dance with?"
„At least 35." he answers with smirk.
„Really? 35? And with how many girls was it a serious dance?"
Bucky thinks for a moment before he answers.
„Two." he says.
„Only two?"
He nods.
„Who?"
„The one was my first young love and the other was one was with the most gorgeous woman I've ever met."
„How nice, the young love, huh? I've never got to experience that."
„It's a great feeling."
„Did you end up together?"
„Sadly not, I got recruited and had to fight in the war and I.. I never saw her again.."
„Oh, I'm sorry."
„I don't even remember her name." he says and looks outside.
„That's unfortunate."
„And you really never loved someone before you went undercover?" Bucky asks and looks at me.
„I think there's been a person who I may or may not liked.. a lot, but I don't remember him either." I answer „Unfortunately.."
„But it felt nice, didn't it?"
„It did." I say. „It definitely did."
He smiles at me.
I look out of the window again.
All the lights of the city shine now.
I zone out and just stare outside.
Bucky also doesn't say a thing.
It's silent again, but it's a nice silence.

After some time my phone lights up, a message.
I look at it.
„It's Steve." I read out loud. „They're eating now."
„Okay." he says and stands up.
„Aren't you gonna eat something?"
„No, I'm not hungry, but you can go." I say and look at him.
He nods and walks out of my room.
I gaze outside again.

After several minutes someone knocks again.
„Yeah?"
Bucky opens the door and walks in with two plates of sushi.
„What? You're not serious right now."
„Yes I am! I didn't want you to eat nothing, so I brought it to you." he says, walks up to me and hands me the food.
„Is that okay for the others?"
„Sure."
I take the plate.
„Well thank you." I say and look at the sushi.
He smiles as he sits down.
„Your welcome."
We eat together and talk.
„You didn't talk about the second girl you danced seriously with." I say and look at him. „How was she?"
„Amazing."
„Nothing more? Was she like the other girl?" I ask.
„No, she's like the complete opposite."
„Really?"
He nods.
„And did you see her ever again?"
„In my dreams." he says and looks outside.
We had finished eating and I put the plates on the desk.
„Your dreams?" I ask as I sit down next to him again. „So you do remember her more."
"I could never forget her."
„You're telling me that you remember her more than the love of your live?"
He smiles.
„Maybe."
„Okay, then tell me about her, what is she like?"
„She's stubborn and strong, brave like no other and curious.. and she looks stunning. She's just great." he says and blushes slightly.
„Do you think she ever love you as much as you love her?"
„I don't know.."
„Well I think she must've been a very nice lady." I say and look at him, knowing that he talks about me.
He nods and smiles softly, blushing slightly as he looks outside again. about.
