Chapter 22: That hubby of mine

Next morning, while Skye was in the bathroom, her phone made a noise. A text: You and your boyfriend better get here in 10. She went out to see her lover still asleep on the bed. She smiled softly as she saw their picture from 1 year ago, when he asked her to be his girlfriend. She was mad at him last night, but he was there the whole night, which ment to her a lot. Skye went over to the bed and started lightly stroking his hair until she heard a soft noise of him waking up.

 "Morning sweetheart" he said with his deep morning voice she loved so much.

 "Morning babe. We gotta go. That idiot Pinsky said we have 10 minutes to get to work."

 "That idiot knows how to ruin a perfectly good morning. I guess this means you forgave me?" he said as he grabbed her and pulled her with his strong arms towards him. She strangled his hips and kissed him passionately. "For now. But don't think you're out of the woods just yet" she said as she pushed back from the kiss. "Now get up. I don't want to have to explain to May again why we were late"

Once they have arrived to the huge white building in front of which tons of armed agents ran their morning surveillance runs, they went in, swiped their ID cards that read: Skye "Quake" Johnson, Inhuman special forces liutenant, level 7 and Grant "Aftershock" Ward, Specialist unit captain, level 7, and went in. There was chaos in the aula. Three agents were beating someone while the person was trying to escape. 

"Hey", Quake yelled. "You three, who are you beating, what is going on here?"

" Agent Johnson, sorry for the disturbance, but this one," the agent held the beaten person up to show him to Skye "tried to escape while we were doing a mandatory search of all the neighborhoods. Turns out, he had something that doesn't belong to him and he is an Inhuman."

 "That makes him my responsibility. Send him to my office and tell Agent Rogan to detain him until I'm back" 

"Honey, we really need to go, we are already late for whatever crap Pinsky needs us" Skye looked at her boyfriend than at her watch. 

"Fine, we are going, but you three better not make this man incapable of having a talk with me"

 "Yes mam!" and with that the two left upstairs towards a big conference room surrounded by glass walls that were blurred. They went in and set on their respected seats.

"There they are. I told you to be here in 10. It has been well over 10" a bald man sitting across from Ward said. 

"Shut it Pinsky! We are here are we not?!" Ward told him coldly and firmly.

"You two need to start coming in on time when you are as crucial for tha task as today" May said ignoring all the glares round the table.

"I am sorry Major. We had a little hold up when we entered. Three of our agents have been beating up an Inhuman. Him being an Inhuman makes him my responisbility" Skye stated.

"Not if he has made a great offence" Doctor said and shut her up with just one look. She really hated when he would go over her head, when it was clear from the very beginning, she was the one in charge when it comes to the Gifted. She pouted slightly, but said nothing.

"Anyways, you two have been chosen for the next mission. This is Andrej Karebović, a former Yugoslavian general and now a well known person on the Dark Market. Agent Gould and his team have come accross information that he will be transfering some very valuable weapons accross Europe, including this" May was showing pictures on the holograph as she explained.

"This is a very powerful serum and the target of your mission. You are to retrieve the serum as your main goal, however" the Doctor said.

"Getting some of his other weapons would help us drastically, especially the allien tech" May added.
