"briar, for the love of fucking god, can you shut up about this party?" matt sighed, trying his best to focus in on the cod game he was currently playing.

"no matthew, i can't! my last one was a total fucking disaster and this one can't be the same! it has to be different." she explained passionately, throwing her hands around in the air.

"whatever." chris shook his head at the girl, really not wanting to go anywhere near a party of hers after the last one.

"you two are miserable to be around." said briar, walking away from the two to go sit beside eddie and nick.

"why isn't mavis here again? she'd agree with me."

"uh, no she fucking wouldn't." eddie chuckled, finding the statement completely ridiculous.

"why not?" briar asked.

"because everything blew up in her face your last party? shit would've been fine if you didn't throw it and let james in the place." eddie spoke as if it were obvious.

"okay first of all asshole, i didn't let him in." the blonde replied defensively.

"okay, guys, seriously shut the fuck up. mavis isn't here because she's with mason, remember? she's meeting us at the party later on." nick interrupted their argument.

"of fucking course she is." chris spat sourly.

everyone shot him a weird look, which made him feel more judged than he had probably ever felt before in his entire life.

"you need to stop being such a bitch and just tell her if you got a problem with it. sitting there being angry won't get you anywhere chris." matt rolled his eyes.

"honestly." nick agreed.

"you guys don't even know what you're talking about, she walked away from me to go on that stupid fucking date with him." chris explained.

"chris i know perfectly well what happened. you couldn't just put your big ass ego aside and admit to her how you feel! i'm tired of hearing about it, either do something or shut up about it." matt retorted.

"it's too late anyway, she couldn't care less." chris muttered in defeat, which only made everyone in the room even more annoyed.

it seemed like quite literally everyone around mavis and chris could put together how they felt about each other beyond their hatred, but of course, it was everyone except for them themselves.

"you guys are lame as fuck, i'm going home to start decorating for the party, come a little early so you can help me get everything together." briar instructed the group, before slinging her purse over her shoulder and leaving them sitting there.

"anyone else got a feeling this party's gonna be a total shit show?" eddie asked, causing everyone else to immediately agree.

"MATT!" chris' voice boomed throughout the house, piercing matt's ears as he laid on the couch while he waited for chris and nick to finish getting ready for briar's new years eve party.
