Today I woke up at 5am to do an hour of yoga before I got ready for the day. I like to take my time in the morning so by 7am I head upstairs to get breakfast. School starts at 08:30am so it gives me plenty of time to check over what I have at school for the day, make sure that I have turned in homework when I have that due, get my skating bag ready for after school and eat a proper breakfast as well as get my snack ready for after school.
Daniel gets a bag with a snack ready to put in my bag for after school, so I have something to eat before I head to the ice rink. The last thing you want is to work out that intensely without some food in your stomach. Some probably do that, but it's not healthy. You need energy to keep up in skating at this level, and you get energy from enough sleep and proper nutrition. team USA set all of their athletes up with meal plans from their nutritionist to make sure we get in enough food, so we are ready to do what we need to do. I'm pretty good at following it, other than getting my daily Starbucks fix that tends to have a lot of sugar in it. No one is perfect, and Starbucks is my weakness. I try to get sugar free though, but sometimes the real deal if what you need.
Today I'm wearing black skinny jeans, a slightly cropped striped t-shirt, a light blue jean jacket and black converse sneakers. My hair is up in a messy bun and my makeup is natural because I don't like heavy makeup. The only time I use more heavy makeup is when I have skating competitions because you need more than usual to look good on the ice. I also get my outfit for skating ready, pack my new skates as well as my old skates and make sure my other things are in the bag before I head upstairs. I leave my skating bag by the door and then my driver head up and get it before he comes and pick me up from school to go to the rink.
While I'm walking upstairs, I check my text from Chloe.
Chloe: how is the new girl? You didn't text me last night girl
Me: sorry girl. She is fine I guess, hopefully she isn't annoying. Seems quiet and polite. But we will see how that goes when she gets more comfortable
Chloe: good thing about this is that your parents will be too occupied which means they will get off your back
Me: hope so. A silver lining to everything I guess
It's not that I don't like the new girl, because I obviously don't know her and can't give my opinion yet. But I just don't get why we are now getting a new family member. I get that my parents want another kid, but why couldn't they get a baby or a toddler? They said something about older kids having a harder time getting permanent placements though, which makes sense, I guess. It will take some getting used to though, but I guess I don't have a choice. My parents made the choice, and I don't really have a say in it. It's not the girls fault though, so I guess I need to at least be civil to her. I'm not a horrible or rude person, so obviously I will be nice to her, that's not even question. Not to mention that my parents would be up my ass if I was difficult to her. It's not like me to be rude to anyone anyway, so it's fine. I do understand my parents' explanation that every child deserves a forever home, that part I get. I've grown up so privileged that its sometimes easy to forget that not everyone has the life I've had. I've always had everything I could ever want, but this girl has probably had a hard life.
«Good morning sweetie» my dad says as he comes into the kitchen at the same time as me. He is dressed for the office, so I assume mom is staying home with Elena while dad goes to work. «Good morning dad, are you going to work?»
«Yes. Mom is staying home with Elena until she goes to School. And when she starts school, she will work when Elena is at school and then come home to meet her here» he explains, and I nod.
