"It's perfect!"
I scruff up the new haircut presented to me through the wide mirror. Lights traveled all around it, making me see every mark and blemish on my face. I scrunched up my nose and shook my now fluffy hair around with a smile.
"I should have it cut like this every time." The smile remains on my face as I looked up at my hair and makeup artist behind me.
"Laura will be here soon with some more clothing options. You can go and look through the rack whenever you'd like." Brenda says, running her fingers through my hair one last time before I thanked her again as she walked out of my trailer.
I close my eyes for a moment, taking in this experience. I open them again and looked around my own trailer. There was a small bed at the end pressed up against the wall. The bathroom was placed on the opposing side with a sliding door. I take my bottom lip under my teeth as I looked over at the clothing rack behind me through the mirror. I got up and began to swipe through the hangers at all the different styles and colors.
A dark denim colored jacket that was as thin as a flannel stuck out to me. I pulled it from the rack and noticed it was a bit more oversized than I thought. I took it off the hanger and threw it on the chair I was once sitting it. After putting it on, I scanned myself in the same mirror and did a few twists to get a glimpse of it at every angle. It looked silly with the shirt I was wearing, but it could definitely be styled in another way.
The character I was playing had a bit of a grungy vibe, but still maintaining brightness. I'm very fluid with my style so I'm excited to see what I get transformed into.
The door suddenly opened and I whipped my head around to see a woman that wasn't Brenda. She had short, dark hair and was dressed like a rockstar.
"Hey! I'm Laura. I see you've taken a liking to some of the stuff already." Her smile was wide and contagious, making me smile wide too.
She carried a tub that seemed to weigh a lot as she struggled to get it through the tight threshold. She eventually got it in and plopped it to the ground to put her personal belongings on the vanity.
"It's cute. I'm not really sure what they're wanting to go for with my character's style but I'd love to wear this." I take in my view again with the jacket around my body and pursed my lips.
"Well, let's take a look as some more pieces I've brought." She spoke, opening up the tub and tossing the lid to the side.
The thing was filled with different jackets and pants. I loved the style in the 80s and all of these seemed like they were straight from the era. I hope I can take some of this home with me.
"Ooo." I spoke, lifting up a black and white pair of striped socks. I lifted them both up and danced around with them in my hands, exaggerating my liking for them.
Laura laughed and started piecing the only two items I liked with other articles of clothing she brought. She took out a plain pair of denim jeans that seemed high waisted; love.
"Do you have shoes too?" I asked.
She answered with pointing behind me to the previous clothing rack in here. Beneath it was a few small shoe boxes stacked on top of each other.
Shoes are one of my favorite pieces of an outfit. I wasted no time hurdling myself toward them like a child on Christmas morning.
They were all pretty much the same; vintage Nike's, Vans, and Converse. All containing a simple color way, either black and white or dark grays. I picked up a pair of the old skool Vans and put them to the side. I made my own pile of shoes I liked and didn't like.
