Chapter 7- Zaia's Career

ZAIA'S POV

"Good afternoon. We will be having an urgent but quick meeting for changes of schedules. Doc Abuella and Doc Jimena, Is it okay if the two of you will be at 1:00pm- 11:00pm Schedule this month?"

Panimula ni Doc Tan sa meeting. Si ZAIA naman ay nagtataka kung bakit pinalitan ang mga schedules nila samantalang kanina lang sila nag meeting tungkol dito. As a a new doctor hereat the hospital, required sa amin ang 8 hours of duty a day with 2 days off for 6 months. That's the hospital policy.

"Okay lang sakin Doc Tan." Sagot ni Doc Kim Jimena.

"It's okay with me too Doc."sagot din ni Doc Abuella.

"Doc Del Mundo is new to our department, so I will put her on morning schedule. 8:00am together with Doc Dema-ala. Doc Chive will be on 11:00pm - 8:00am shift. This will be our schedule for this month. Doc Del Mundo would it be okay if I will talk to you after this meeting?"

Napaangat ako ng mukha sa kanya.

"S-ure Doc. ."maikling tugon ko.

Bago pa lang ako at di ko pa masyadong ka close ang kasamahan ko na mga Dr. Although they are nice to me the first time I met them earlier.

"That will be all for today. Thank you Doctors and be safe. Medyo mataas ang cases ng Dengue sa atin. Oh, by the way, we will be having a medical mission next Month!"

"Yes doc!"

Isa-isa nang nag paalam ang kasamahan ko pagkatapos ipaalam sa amin ni Doc Tan ang mga programs ng hospital this months.

"Doc, you are new here. I hope you don't mind if I will put you in morning schedule. That would be okay with you naman di ba? Medyo busy lang tayo sa ER but I know you can handle everything."nakangiti na sabi ni Doc Tan sa akin.

"Of course Doc. I will do my best!"

"We will be having our regular shifting after 1 month. I want to talk to you personally to ask favor. Every year nag papadala kami ng part-time doctor to one of the University here in Legaspi para tulungan ang kanilang University Physician for medical and dental examination of their incoming students. Would it be okay if you are going to be our volunteer for this year? The said exams for their incoming students will take 1-2 months."

Natuwa ako sa narinig. This is the first time I am going to have a medical examination at sa isang kilalang University pa dito sa Legaspi.

"It will be a great experience and big help for me Doc."

"Thank you Doc. After ng medical mission natin next month. I will arrange your schedule their."

"Thank you also Doc."

Pagkatapos namin mag-usap ni Dr. Tan ay bumalik na rin ako sa pwesto namin ni Dr. Chive. Sya kasi ang magiging partner ko ngaung araw. Mabait din si Doc Chive at tingin ko mag kakasundo kami kaagad.

1 month later...

"Bea!"

Tawag ni ZAIA sa isa sa mga staff nurse na makakasama nya sa medical mission nila. Parang kelan lang yung unang araw nya sa trabaho at ngaun ay nag hahanda na sya para umalis papunta sa lugar kung saan yearly nag pupunta ang mga staff ng Arguelles Hospital para sa isang medical mission.

"Ready na ba lahat ng dadalhin natin?"

"Yes Doc! Hinihintay ko na lang po yung text ni Pola sa akin."
