⁺‧ Punica Granatum L. ☾‧⁺˚*

Pomegranates; are rich in antioxidants,
having more than a glass of red wine.
They have an abundance of polyphenols,
which can have anti-inflammatory and
anticarcinogenic effects. Which means,
that pomegranates can reduce the risk
of certain cancers, as well as prevent;
high blood pressure, high cholesterol,
hyperglycemia, oxidative stress, and
inflammation. And as with cranberries,
pomegranate juice can help maintain
a good and balanced urinary tract.

Magickally, pomegranates are used
in spells and rituals that are in rela-
tion to; intuition, luck, wealth, wisdom,
and protection. And, as with most fruit
that produce red juices, the juice from
pomegranates can be used to represent
blood in spells and rituals. In the "witchy-
world", to honor Persephone, it is said
that you would eat three seeds of the
fruit on Samhain, and no more.

I adore pomegranates. They are
such a fascinating fruit, albeit,
they can be quite messy. However,
both the medicinal and magickal
properties are well worth it.
