Truth be told, this little post of mine
will not be so much as a "tip", as it
would be more of some info about
Nanaimo Bars.
To those who are not familiar with
this treat (all those who aren't
Canadian probably, lol), Nanaimo
Bars are a Canadian-made sweet
that originated in Nanaimo, British
Columbia. Hence, the name.
For those of us who have tried this,
we know that this little devil is sweet
as heck! Literally.
I know for myself; I won't have more
than one. And even then, one can still
be a lot to eat in one sitting.
Nanaimo Bars are equipped with a
chocolate and nut-infused graham
base. The nuts can be either; pecans
or walnuts; however, it is a must
for this to contain coconut. Of course,
you don't have to add it, but traditionally,
it is in there. Next is the custard butter-
cream filling. This is definitely a major
component of the sweetness factor.
This is also probably the easiest step
to add any flavouring of your choice!
Traditionally, it is vanilla. Though, the
choice is yours! Lastly, the sweet sheen
covering it all, would be the melted
chocolate layer on top.
As a bonus, this dessert actually doesn't
take too much time and energy to make!
Plus, this is a "no-bake" treat! Meaning,
you could make this with your kids, easy.
Of course, always assist your young ones
in the kitchen, regardless. ~
