☰32- WHAT MAKES A FAMILY

[MANHATTAN, NEW YORK]

I walked through a portal heading back to the apartment that we lived in, still located in the Avengers Tower. The place had already been decorated for Christmas, it had been since the first of December. Tony had us decorate it all decked out this year and I enjoyed it because we didn't fight as much and it wasn't the fancy decorations of the tree, they were more random ornaments we found at the store.
The apartment was pretty quiet and since it was dinner time, I assumed Tony and Pepper went out to some fancy restaurant. I planned on getting a snack and heading to my room so I walked into the kitchen and picked up a bag of chips.

"Oh no, we have rats."

I turned to see him coming from the elevator, no doubt he had been down in the lab.

"Rats? Gross, you should get that checked out." I sit down on the barstool. "How was Venice?"

"Great the views, the scenes, the music." He listed and tossed me his phone where the video of me attacking the man played on screen. "Though I think that was more fun to watch, no.. fun isn't the word. Let's say interesting."

I watched it and sighed. "I apologized and I promised not to do it again. Don't worry, Steve already talked to me about it."

"So, I don't need to ground you or anything?" He asks, taking a chip. "Or give you another lecture about this being the reason why you aren't—"

"No." I cut him off. "I'm sorry for not going with you and Pepper and sorry for leaving."

"Really?"

"Yes, I was being childish over a small fight. I shouldn't have left."

"I shouldn't have let you leave." I look at him. "You know I really should figure out how to stop you from doing that. Pepper always knows when you're gonna poof away."

"Yeah, you'll never get to her level." I stand up. "I'm gonna go up to my room now, so I'll see you later."

"Dinner in an hour."

"Got it." I replied and stopped before leaving. "Welcome back, Tony."

He nods. "You too, Sprout."

I went up to my room, doing homework and trying not to think about the logo. But it was so clearly there. I never forget anything and much less make mistakes like that, visuals are my think. I would never make that mistake.

'Dinner is ready, Amelia.' FRIDAY announced.

"Thanks." I closed my books and walked down to the kitchen. "Smells great."

"Yeah." Pepper came from behind me and gives me a side hug. I hugged her back. "I knew you'd come back."

"Yeah, I didn't want you guys to miss me too much." I say picking up an asparagus and taking a bite. "Welcome back, how was the trip?"

"You've been to Italy, Mel." Pepper walked over to take a glass of wine from Tony. "You lived in Italy for five months."

"I know but that's different." I helped set the table before taking my seat. "So?"
