☰62- DOING TEEN THINGS

   "Please? Just two hours." I plead to the video of dad on the tv monitor. "Jade is coming with me and Theo will also be there."

   "Normally I would say 'Sure, go live your life, be a teenager.' But you're still grounded and I'm not home." He tells me. "So, no."

   I roll my eyes and then smirk at an idea. "Peter Parker is going and maybe even Spider-Man." He looks at me. "I should go and make sure he doesn't do what you would do and show off, right? As you would say 'Babysit the kid.'

   He did start thinking about it.

   "No! You're staying home."

   "Should have taken me with you." I crossed my arms.

   "You have school." He replies. "Do not go to that party. Mel."

   I stay quiet.

   "Say you won't go to that party."

   "Dad, please just trust me—"

   "Say you won't go to that party."

   "A little faith—"

   "Don't worry dad, I promise I won't go to that party. I won't leave the house. I'll be your sweet little angel with absolutely no trouble and I'll listen to my amazing father."

   I looked at him and he raised his eyebrows. I let my eyes fall away but he cleared his throat so I looked back at him and sigh.

   "I won't go to that party."

"Mmm, not the same thing but I'll take it." He nods and someone talks to him. "I'll be right there.
   Mel, I'll call you back tonight. Actually can't do tonight but I'll send Happy over to check up on you, all right? Good for you?"

   "Sure. Even if I said no, you would still send him."

   "Love you, Sprout." He says.

   "Bye."

   "Love you."

   "Yep, you too."

   "LOVE YOU, DAD." He said loudly through the speakers around the house.

   I had covered my ears and glared at him. "Love you, dad!" I yelled and he smiled hanging up.

   I pulled on Nat's jacket and adjusted it as I looked in the mirror at myself. I had never been to a high school party, all the parties I've attended were those that Tony threw and they were usually fancy stuff. This was supposed to be casual, at least that's what Jade told me when I asked her what I should wear.
I sighed and peeked out the front door, catching a glimpse of the security guards that dad had hired. I stuck my head back inside and leaned back on the door as I sighed, lying to him was one thing but now building on that lie was making this extremely hard.

"You owe me one, Parker." I mumbled and set an illusion of myself in lounging clothes, sitting on the couch watching a movie. "That should work."

I teleported about a block or so away from where the party was actually being held, exhaling with relief that no one was around to see me do it.
As I walked to the house I slowed down, hearing the music from the outside and seeing some people were just hanging around outside.

"I think I hate this already." I mumbled.

I walked into the house greeting students who were in my classes and greeting the random people who said hi to me. I knew their faces, I just never got around to learning their names so I just smiled and waved, walking past them.
I saw Mj and walked over to her because I didn't know most of the people and I sat next to her in Art so we talked a lot. She was pulling out a bag of bread from the pantry and held it up to offer me some.
